xyplorer crashes

I am using the trial of 7.19 and every time I click on a pdf file even just to preview, the program locks up. The timer keeps going in circles for maybe 2 mins and is followed by a windows error message to wait or close program. This also happens if I try to move a pdf. It seems to work with other files even those which include images. My default pdf viewer is Adobe Acrobat X1 standard and os is windows 10 at 64 bits.

I have also downloaded xplorer 2 trial which does not have these problems and at $10 less seems the obvious choice. Only reason I am posting is because the reviews I have read have been excellent so have to conclude that it is something to do with my computer or conflicting software

Is the Preview Tab or Preview Pane visible at the time you are selecting the file?
