By the way: it would be fine if XY would recognize the extension .accurip as a text file.

There's a beautiful reasoning for the unrefined voices somewhere at the Seguin Brothers site http://eng.richardaseguin.com/
Listening to Cash, I finally understood what it was that all my favourite singers had in common, that thing that I had never been able to put my finger on. Like Cash, all my favourite singers had real voices, human voices, with all the precious imperfections kept in. It was the sound of humanity.
While off-topic - like to second Peter's wish.

True. Or half-true. I would not call it "imperfections". That's from an academic perspective. The point in rock music (for me at least) is not to take such a perspective. Rock does not follow rules, it ignores them (and en passant often breaks them).

:D

Thanks a lot!

Though most of my CDs are ripped in between the time.
Eric Burdon & the Animals are there, too 8)
Paint it black is best, here. (At least for me :P )
More like House of the Rising Sun, Tobacco Road, or San Franciscan Nights.

Sorry for still being off topic. All great songs you mention PeterH. The one I rattle around in my head for weeks after hearing it is, "When I was young". Superb lyrics written by Eric. He was a good friend to both Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon. I never realized until recently, Lennon is referring to him as "the eggman" in the song, "I Am the Walrus".

Burdon is the eggman? Tz tz, didn't know that.

And I learned something else today: "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" is not by Joan Jett  , but by Alan Merrill of The Arrows (1975!). And the original version, sorry Joan, is better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AT_Pbtyid0 (And sorry, America, looks like this is a British song :))

I didn't know that about "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". So many good songs were written by people other than whom we associate the song. That tidbit of information (an interesting story on how he got the eggman name from John Lennon) and other stories about Eric Burdon is on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Burdon Early Life. Jimi Hendrix's girl friend called him first when Hendrix overdosed. A set of 3 songs with only a guitar backing him is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLoAW6qPy1E I think it may be German TV program in 1986? At 45, he could still belt out a song.

Yep, German TV. Not exactly a rocknroll show. The crowd is near-dead.
