Unfortunatelly it is only partly fixed. Using Win10 Pro 1803 there are missing extensions, so the pictures cannot be previewed or opened. (File Explorer shows them correctly.)

It seems to me that the extension is just hidden - else "Type" would/could not be "FastStone JPG File".

No, your guess is wrong. Note the empty Ext column and the missing jpeg icon.

Edit:
I have created a file named "my.test.for.missing.extensions.txt". The result in XY is this:

Does File Explorer show the extensions?

Check the Attr column in XYplorer. Could it be those items are seen as directories?

No, they are not folders.

The latest version shows the extensions correctly. But double click on a picture gives an error message:

Also the rename has a small bug. When I change the extension, the new extension will be shown in lowercase in the Ext column, only after manual refreshing I can get the correct case.

Yes, I know that error message. The usual MTP madness. Gave up on fixing this.

Isn't it possible, that it is caused by the translated "internal storage" message in the path? Which contains international characters? And why does File Explorer work correctly? Its path start with "This PC\C2\...". Isn't it related?

In my experience it has to do with the opening application. Some can handle it, others can't.

I tried a couple of picture viewers and the File Explorer. Now I understand what happens. The app can open the picture on a portable device only if it creates a copy of the picture in a cache folder. (File Explorer and IrfanView do that.) As I can see, the cache folder is the Windows\INetCache...

This problem is the same I'm having as of 07-15-18 and it frustrating that a having selected XYplorer for its user friendly UI ... this problem cannot be fixed. I checked settings and still cannot get my WD MyBookLive and MYCloud drives to show up in XYplorer.

This thread is about removable storage drives, not about cloud "drives"?
Just bind them to a drive letter...
