This is repeatable on my Win10 Pro 64-bit machine.
I have set up two standard user accounts ('Papoulka" and 'Visitor'*) and an admin account. While logged in as 'Papoulka' (my normal practice) I ask XY to open the folder C:\Users\Visitor. I get an "Access Denied" message AND XY hangs unrecoverably. No amount of Escape or other key-pressing will get XY back to normal. I have to use Task Manager to kill the XY process.
This is just one example of such a hang. I also get it when trying to access some Admin or other protected folders, but it seemed semi-random and/or I didn't have time to check for repeatability and report it. I think something similar has been discussed on the forum but can't find it now.
* Edit: 'Visitor' is actually a Guest-level account, which differs in some way from vanilla 'standard users'. I'm not sure that distinction matters here. If this is not easily repeatable on other machines (because of no similar account) then I'll try harder to find the other cases that cause it.

Got a screenshot (complete window) of the situation?

Re: Access Denied on some folders causes XY hang
Logged in as a standard user, I attempted to open the Users folder for the Guest-level standard user account "Visitor" (see image). The blue circle near the cursor wasn't picked up by my screencap util, but XY is completely hung. Only Task Manager can kill it, and then with some effort since XY is absorbing almost all keyboard input.

I also face the same problem when I am trying to access "C:\Recovery" without admin right using Xyplorer.

Is that on Win10 as well?hyzhangzhy wrote:I also face the same problem when I am trying to access "C:\Recovery" without admin right using Xyplorer.
Anyway, I think it is related to this: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16976
It was an experiment, and it looks like it failed. I will remove it.

Re: Access Denied on some folders causes XY hang
Thanks. Should be fixed in the recent beta.

Re: Access Denied on some folders causes XY hang
Appears to be fixed here. The case I cited above now simply shows "Access denied", as it should, with no hang.
