Selecting a file causes crash

Post by JoeMarfice »

I have a file on a LAN server (home network), located on a NAS, that causes XYP to crash every time I select it - even if I'm selecting it as part of a group of files. For ease, let's call it P2; I can select P1, but if I select P1->P10, XYP crashes.

Precisely, it announces it has stopped working error and Windows will close the program, but hangs.

I can access this file normally from the standard File Explorer; it's a video file and I can run it without errors. There are no special characters in the name - alphanumerics, spaces, and the dot-extension.

XYplorer 16.30 Pro. Windows 10, upgrades up-to-date. NAS is a WD MyCloud server, running WD's bastard version of *nix. Any clues? What other debugging info can I provide/look for? No error log is generated in AppData/Roaming/XYplorer

Could that be related to that recent Windows 10 update disaster? You heard about it?

If it's as you say a video file that's selected and you're using Windows 10 then get KB4015438 from:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -kb4015438
Go to updates in the control panel or settings and check for updates and it should automatically DL that KB.

Yes, it could. No, I haven't.

That's pretty vague.

Does it still happen when you turn off file info tips: Configuration | File Info Tips | Show file info tips?

Thanks for that tip, Admin... It mysteriously went away, just like it mysteriously started happening.

:? :eh: :)
