Potential Bug ?

Post by CookieMonster »

I'm trying to debug a potentially bug in XYplorer, whether it's related to XYplorer or a Thumbnail tool I use, is unknown. To make things more known I was hoping the Admin can tell me the following pieces of information:

What Windows APIs they use to extract icons / populate their listviews with entries ?
> IExtractIcon
> IThumbnailProvider

Very different, too complex to explain here (and too secret :)).

Update:

When I load a folder with a series of images, then immediatley go to another directory with a series of some images, without letting the first folder with the set of images or some images completely load I will get the error mentioned in another thread. I can show a video if needed ?

I shouldn't have to wait for images to load if I happen to visit the wrong folder without a crash ? And when this occurs XYplorer is completely unusable, it either crashes or I have to end the program via task manager. I have a theory that it has to do with drawing thumbnails for specific images, the drawing is slow which causes crashes ?

Cannot reproduce.

How exactly do you change locations?

I change locations by simply clicking one folder, followed by another folder ?

1) I see you are still using 16.40. Please try the current version.
2) Your screen movie does not show the whole app; this does not help me understand the issue.

Thanks!

I've tried to create the array crash with 16.60, so far, so good; I'm going to keep trying. :o I will report if I do, I hope not.

If it doesn't re-occur, whatever you fixed in 16.60 is the key to this issue.

I think I may know what the problem is, I have a folder which contains large PSD files (800+ megs) when that particular folder redraws, before it's finished redrawing, I get Error 10(0x0000000A): The array is fixed or temporarily locked.

I don't see a possible relation there.

Have you updated to 17.00 in the meantime?

I was attempting to move large EXR files (50+ megs) and I get the Array issue causing XY to crash. XY crashes on me more times when organizing files specifically images, and it's completely frustrating. Updating and updating to the latest version of XY I was hoping would eliminate this bug but it still persists up to 17.90.

I use MysticThumbs as an image viewer so I think there is an issue with XY and MysticThumbs displaying images or something of that nature only the author would know has he can analyze the code.

I don't think that organizing image files is causing this. This is one of the core features of XY and I would long have heard of any issue here.

Let's narrow this down:
- only when in thumbnails view?
- only when moving rather *large* images?
- only with EXR images?

You say "I get the Array issue". What is that? Got an error message screenshot?
