"image area too large to preview" - again, now more serious

Post by SL09 »

The possibility to preview pictures I valued very much in XYPlorer has become nearly unusable, because only small pictures are shown now. :veryconfused: :veryconfused: The message appears (in my german version) "Bildfläche zu gross für Vorschau (Fehler 480)". This happens also in 4 MB-pictures (5100 x 3300 pixels).
Hitting the button results in an empty frame. Floating preview also shows an empty frame.
I changed 'PreviewMaxArea=20000000' (should be 20 MB) to 'PreviewMaxArea=0' (should be "unlimited"), then to 120000000 (insane), but it still does not work. What to do ?? :(

several months ? don't know exactly
I had not changed the setting 'PreviewMaxArea', I only found it (again) today
My system: fully patched Windows 7 x32 Professional (Single User) V6.01 Build 7601 Service Pack 1 ASUS P6T WS PRO German (0807) Switzerland (41)

I think it depends on other factors like available memory. I can preview images sized 12400 x 6400 here.

Yep, deutschsprachig. But it won't help to scare off the bug...

In my Win 64-system it works (I have one in parallel ...), 'PreviewMaxArea' is set to 0 (not by me, automatically?)
but this is also a 32-bit-app ? (\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer\)

In 32 bit Windows, if I press the mouse on the empty preview-frame, the view in full size works. But this is in prinicple way too large. Would be nice to make it customizeable  full screen - 1 : 1 - ...

Did you test the last beta (v16.00.0245). I fixed something there.

And tick this for your MDBU size: Configuration | Mouse Down Blow Up | Shrink to fit

Users request features that are already there ... I am stupid
Microsoft also has this problem, but you are much more accessible and reactive.
It is marvellous to have bought a program with more functions than I will ever find, and there is much to explore. With the functions I found, the program has an enormous usability.

Now, to the preview (on Win 32; Win 64 is always OK): it works on some days (with v16.00.0200), on others it doesnt. In Beta 16.00.0246 it worked also, on such a day ...
After Update to 16.10, it worked initially. Yesterday, it didn't work, today it works again.

It does not depend on size: a file of 15'990'229 Byte / 12 845 x 6007 px shows without problems; a file of 6'865'145 Byte / 8531 x 3826 px does not.
Clicking on the (grey) frame in background color shows a black (or white) area in the size the image would have, but without the image. Hitting F12 directly (I associated with 'schwebende Vorschau') shows only a black image "@ 20.17 %".

Now, I will try v16.10.0100.

Your dimensions are beyond certain limits, and available memory is also a factor here, that's why there is an apparent random factor. I can't do anything here.
