Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
1) My opinion is it should.
2) Right... just realized it only happens on the Plain Text previews. Still looks a bit strange though since none of the tree, catalog, or list panes use that.

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
1) As you see with the text previews, some of the preview handlers come with their own borders. It would look bad to have borders within borders.

1) What called my attention to it is how bad it looks when nothing is being previewed:

Yes, and the next version will have a surprising solution for this...

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
Does anybody here think there should be a "Select a file to preview" message in the empty pane (like in Explorer)? I personally prefer complete emptiness to a rude order.

Ehh.. I suppose .0006 is a bit better, but the tab bar has a gradient and top border which you do not match so there's still some ugliness there.admin wrote:Yes, and the next version will have a surprising solution for this...
How about you try a message for a beta? Could be okay if it were subtly colored/shaded. I'm conflicted between user friendliness and what I feel is better looking though.admin wrote:Does anybody here think there should be a "Select a file to preview" message in the empty pane (like in Explorer)? The gradient itself is the ugliness. I don't have it. Nobody has it by default (unless < Win8). Use tweak FlatLook=1 ...TheQwerty wrote:Ehh.. I suggest this:
Anyway, this is awesome Don! IT'S FINALLY HERE!! YEAH
Anyways... now I'm probably going to disappear again for a while due to school and life... *sigh*

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
I rather see emptiness than some ugly no-brainer message.
I think it looks better now using the same color review background as the toolbar background, but actually what I like even more, is the look of the plain text box when you view an xys or text file - a white background with a fine black border. The fine black line surrounding the preview looks good all the way around. Why not use it with the preview of images as well? It better defines the preview box, instead of trying to blend it in with the surrounding bars, and looks good at the same time. Take a look at a text file in the preview and then imagine an image in the box.
Enternal, that's fattening.

I hear you... but give it some time, you might even get used to it. Lines are so passé...

Even with FlatLook: Microsoft can give away all the copies of Windows 10 Spyware edition they want, but the enterprise (at least this one) is going to continue using Windows 7 for years to come.admin wrote:The gradient itself is the ugliness. Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
It looks different here, no lines at all. No time right now to check the conditions of your look.
