Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
Ah that explains it. But yep another good reason to keep the tab!
Anyways I just tested in on Windows 10 and the same "problem". You expect that an OS that came out in 2015 would have that preview handler at least support widescreen aspect ratio. It's not like most users will be playing VHS videos on their computer haha.

Actually this is my idea of relaxed file management. Complications not wanted.

Awkwardness rises with vertical panes. Think of those users! when using the left pane, they have to jump over _a whole pane_ to see the preview! This doesn't affect me as I have horizontal pane, but I can see some additions to the arrangement menu.

Having a large vertical pane at the right side has been No. 1 in my wish charts for many years. A lot people will be very happy about this feature. I won't reduce the height of the pane.

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
The current layout feels more balanced than that mockup, with the preview acting as a counter-weight to the nav panel on the left. I think the awkwardness is mostly of the new shoes variety. However, a lot of what makes sense with this layout falls apart when enabling wide tabs or wide info panel.
For me the only way that mockup really works is if each list pane has its own independent preview pane. Otherwise, switching panes would cause the preview pane to "jump" and that in itself sounds like it would cause confusion and be more problematic overall.

v16.30.0004, my problem is: The divider is too small that it's too difficult to make the mouse become ↔ to resize the Preview pane.
My idea is to "Auto-fit" to fill-in any free-space column such as this:

Splitter width: right-click the splitter to adjust it.
Idea: Hm, no. I keep it 100% simple.

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
For Microsoft Office files, the panel shows "Shell failed to decode" (info panel preview also failed to decode) although I have Microsoft Office installed and WE preview correctly.
I have PreviewShellIfNoneBetter=1
P.S: This was discussed before and no solution yet: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... +to+decode

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
In the current version you need the 32-bit preview handlers for MS Office installed.

Re: Preview 2.0 - Generic Thread
Then something is corrupt. Hard to say what. XY is outsourcing Office preview to the preview handlers. If they don't do their job, not much can be done. Not with Office.

The Preview Pane does not appear to obey Configuration | Styles | Borders.
In addition, on hover/focus it takes on the a bluish system specified border (unlike other XY controls): All on Windows 7.

1) Yes. I'm not sure if it should.
2) That's Windows, not me. But it's okay, it's standard behavior for text boxes.
