Menu Help | About: window

Post by lukescammell »

Code: Select all

+ Menu Help | About: window now throws shadow -- the sun is shining!
      XP ff only.
Of course, it still appears on Monitor 1 even if XY's on Monitor 2, so there's a cloud to this silver lining :P

Incidentally, I don't get a shadow under it in XP...

Holy crap, are you saying that you get the shadow on the other monitor?

I have XP and it works. What's going on here?

"XY6" shadow ? I made a new logo "XY6", but that's not what I mean by "shadow".

The About window itself should cast a little shadow onto the form it is peacefully flying over.

No, I think what he means is that if XY is on monitor 2, the About window appears on monitor 1. The shadow is in the correct place (under the window), but the About window is in the wrong place. I assumed this is the same type of VB5 problem as the context menus showing up on the wrong monitor?

Here is a list of windows that I just tried that show up on the correct monitor:
File
Open with Arguments

Edit
Move/Copy/Backup To
New Path
Selection Filter
Search Templates

View
Rename Tab
Set Visual Filter
Set Line Number Column Width

Go
Go To

Tools
Configuration
Customize Toolbar

Ok, ok, I'm not going to list them all, but it appears that the About window is the only one. Well, the OS dialogs like Map Network Drive show up on the other monitor, but I don't know if you have any control over that.

Don, you just need to invest in another monitor. In all seriousness, though, it is a godsend. It's one of those situations where once you've experienced it you don't know how you lived without it before. I'm also a developer and I can honestly say that I would make good use of 3rd monitor.

[Edit]
Right-clicking an empty area of the tree view still pops up the menu on the wrong monitor.

No, they don't. I mean I didn't try everything, but yes the About window shows on the right edge of my main monitor when XY is on the second one. That is, however, the ONLY window to do so, all others (Customize TB, CKS, LM, Go to, Config, etc) are on the right (second) monitor.
You must do/have set something special/different with the About window.

Obviously it has no border. Could that be the weird reason? There's one other difference, though, which I'll try first in the next upload...

I'd probably adjust XY development to 2 monitors... not so good for the rest of the world...

 No, unless you use the iPopupFullFavMenu tweak.

Well, then be it. I know now that I could fix it by adding a border to the window but I refuse. :P
