crash in rare case with drive icons "mac style"

Post by cslevine »

Hello,

i wand to signal a small crashing bug which happens in some case, not in all cases,
when launching XYplorer from an icon with the command line /win=normal

to explain myself, i have to tell about my very personnal using of XY.
i did like very much, from 1987 to 1996; the TOS system on ATARI ST, and it's way to have desktop icon of drives, and separate windows
to have a REAL SIMPLE AND EASY WAY to doing drag and drop file copies with ONE clic.
As with Mac too, ....but i really hate the way of doing with windows on OS-X. the most poor OS. ( i know i can write it here without being blacklisted.... ;) )

But, since the begin of Win95, i useed always, all the days of my life, this really and unique good way of having desktop drive icons shortcuts,
and call it's windows explorer for doing with thousend of files, and copies
i suffer, when i see today users with Windows 7 and opening twice the "My computer" and doing tiwce the clicks for 2 patchs when wanting to copying stupid photos from a simple stupid SD card... and i see lots of peaple simply never doing a copy..... ( and loose everything one day )

That's why i ask Don to add windows coordinates in the command lines,
and it doing the job so good that you can see in the video the way i use XY everyday.
Of course, i have deactivated auto parameters saving in explorer.ini so that i always know what i do.
Someone could say that it's a shame to have 2 or 3 instances of XY, "why not working with panes",
( 2 or 3 x 19300 Ko on a 3 or 4 Go RAM computer )

...but this is my way : I have some little eyes problems, ...and brain little problems :
i really have to see very separate things on my desktop ( the real one too ),
things to close together leads me to stress and false manupilations.
That's why i "love" really the separate files windows as with ATARI ST.
Very natural,
Very fast access and handlings,
Very clear.

But there is a bug.
From one PC to another, the bug doesn't act with the same sequence, but there is some XY opening sequences ( example C after D in this today case) wich leads to a crash windows dialog.
i made this little screencapture video to explain better.

Here are three of my desktop icons options lines :

icône bureau pour C
C:\SOFTS\Utils\XY\XYplorer.exe /win=normal,5,70,430,400 C:\

icône bureau pour D
C:\SOFTS\Utils\XY\XYplorer.exe /win=normal,5,480,430,520 D:\

icône bureau pour E
C:\SOFTS\UTILS\XY\XYplorer.exe /win=normal,476,70,480,700 E:\

When i "open" C, then D, then E : all works.
But when "opening" D, or E, then C : XY crashes.

having to say that by replacing
/win=normal
by
/win=0

it works again ! don't asking why i tried that, "/win=0" doesn't exists, but it works.
So i had the work around for tonight.
Not very important bug. But having to report it because contributing on XY.

[ Don't know where attachements files are gone, maybe i will put them i my www for real working ]

Tried hard but could not reproduce. It's weird that you don't get an error message. So, thanks for the report, but I don't see what I could do at the moment.

Well :

i think there is nothing to do.
i am a very special body, with lots of esoteric and paranormal phenomenias.

More and more. Even computers are attacked.
No virus
No malware

( i work with clean system disk images, Avast 2013 and so on )

only esoterical things, and this pass throught all debugging , all laws, all way to have psychologic works.
i am the only with this bug, not happening in the same way on all XP SP2 installations on exactly same hardware.
