(About Keynote NF)

Hmm... never really noticed that, but maybe it's because I do basic operations and in Keynote there are multiple ways to configure/perform a search:
1) Ctrl+F open a box where you can select some options (especially 'From top', 'Search all notes' and 'Search all tree nodes'); forget one of them and you'll end up with partial results.
2) Tab 'Find' in the Resource panel (F9) presents different configurations, and the results are neatly displayed in a list. Double click on one of them goes to the choosen entry.

Nonetheless, it's a basic search; I often would have liked to perform a single content search over multiple files (while just one is open), but alas... it's not possible.

If you want to take a different approach, there's TiddlyWiki (the new v5 is beautiful)
You download a html page, then open it in a browser and edit away.

Thanks Sammay - unfortunately Tiddly is written in Java, a total No-No on some systems I work with. Generally I agree, giving Wikis preference over treepads. I already own ConnectedText but it's too slow from USB stick. I work portable very often and need a memo-container that's quick and basic, no categories or tags or markdown syntax.
BTW, there is an AHK-based Wikichucks (yes, the name sucks) - http://code.google.com/p/wikichucks/
Or for a complete overview: http://www.wikimatrix.org/

@ Flora_RMC,
I appreciate your hints. However, searching fails completely on some of my systems. There are many confirmed bugs related to Find&Replace. (check website and bug.txt)

Try this: Search type = "Any of the words" and it will only find the term within the current node. Other nodes are not considered.

Not Java. It's written in HTML5 + JavaScript. Java and JS are practically two very different things. Or does your work environment also block JS?

Some companies do indeed block it - if we're talking navigation links on some web-pages, that is. CSS-induced changes upon mouse-hover work fine, Java-stuff may or not may not work, always iffy.

You're probably right, however, as far as my private PCs are concerned. The trouble started with Java runtimes (that's NOT the script stuff, right?) that didn't prroperly register in the system, or rather, old versions that still interfered and it took special tools to get rid of it.

I know. Not to mention the speed of Java apps.

Just when I really want to test this out... Aaargh. Need to watch out next time. Thanks for the site though! Always been waiting on giveawayoftheday or bonjour or Glary's tools. Now I have 4 site to monitor!

Another note application is Cherrytree. It's crossplatform and is actually a hierachial note that supports rich text and even code highlighting!
