Registry Cleaner

I usually don't use this stuff, but now I might need one. There are crap entries in hundreds of nodes, and some of them show in all of my shell context menus. This e.g. is the context menu of a TXT file:
ContextMenu-TXT.png

So I have InprocServer32, Interface, ProxyStubClsid32, Typelib in the context menu of every file and it's totally useless. When I click on them I just get an error saying roughly (transl. from German) "No program is associated with this action...".

This goes on for a long time (some years), no idea when or why it started, but I decided it's time to get rid of it.

In the registry it's immdiately clear that things are just crappy:

So, I need a good Registry Cleaner. I know that the world of Registry Cleaners is full of rubbish. Is there one that is not rubbish?

I've been using "Glary Utilities" for years now.
Primarily to find updates for my installed SW but it also offers a 1-click check including a registry check with subsequent options to "fix" found errors. While I can't say whether it will help with your problem, I can say with certainty that it never caused me any troubles so far - and I've been using it for years in a rather "blindfolded" way - which is more than I can say about many other tools I've used.

You can control shell context menu by this tiny utility:

+1 for binocular222's tip

And for more thorough house cleaning - you said "... for years ...":

kurtzimmermann.com
flagship "TweakPower" or "HDCleaner"
Both portable (but not stealth).
He is working on these for a decade or so with permanence, quite regular updates.
(You may call it a downside, that he forces updates on you).

Well, I tried all your suggestions (apart from CCleaner -- I know this from many years ago and did not like it so much), but all failed to solve my problem.

Then I went to my registry and deleted a couple of obviously suspicious things manually, and ... the problem is still there!

OTOH, this is beginning to become "interesting". ATM I have no idea where these entries come from. :ninja: :blackstorm: <ghosty horror music>

Enough for today...

Ah, got it!

It was this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\Shell

Something wrote a load of crap into it:
AllFilesystemObjects-node.png

After deleting the 4 undesired entries, all my context menus look alright again. :D
