I want (and had before FF29):
Address Bar
Bookmarks Bar
Tabs Bar
Content

They gave me (without asking):
Tabs Bar
Address Bar
Bookmarks Bar
Content

https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/a ... r/?src=api.
At least can recreate most of the pre-Australis gui.

Thanks!

In the meantime I saw that I'm just one in a crowd of millions who want their tabs back on the bottom. :) But about 10 minutes later I already got used to the new look and started to like it. So, all is fine now.

"My bottom" has been 2. from the starting post for around 10 years (Opera veteran over here), tabs always HAD to be close to the Windows task bar. So, having the tabs above (by any means!) the content was my what-the-duck? I never saw why even discussing tabs below/above address bar.
But for my very sake introduction of FF29 made me realize the advantage of vertical sidebar tabs.

My current extension lineup:

Code: Select all

- Add to Search Bar 2.4
- All-in-One Sidebar 0.7.22
- Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis) 1.1.8
- Context Search 0.6.3
- Cookie Controller 3.5
- Customizable Shortcuts 0.6.2
- DOM Inspector 2.0.14
- Extension List Dumper 1.15.2
- FireGestures 1.8.6
- Ghostery 5.2.1
- InFormEnter 0.76
- NoScript 2.6.8.22
- Self-Destructing Cookies 0.4.4
- Speed Dial [FVD] - New Tab Page, Sync... 5.2.3
- Stylish 1.4.3
- Tab Mix Plus 0.4.1.3.1
- Thumbnail Zoom Plus 2.7
- Tree Style Tab 0.14.2014050102

Though I - with exception of the round tabs - I do like the new interface (especially the flat icons :P) I decided to "revert" to ESR 24.X.
I don't remember how much major versions back it started, but FF scrolling became more and more jerky. I've tried to nail down the "evil" add-on, but failed.

So today I did my final experiment and installed ESR 24.x. => Oh wonder, with all add-ons (except one) re-installed) scrolling has become fine and smooth again. :D

Oh boy do I miss my old Opera....

After being upgraded to the "new and even whiter" Crapalis interface, some searching took me to Pale Moon, a fork of FF with a single developer who actually listens to what we users want.

I'm long-time user of Pale Moon too. It's suppose to mimic FF, however, development seems to stall at 24.5 (while FF is 27x now)

I've heard about PaleMoon too in this very context and gave it a little run.

As far as I understood after some reading in "their" forums I got the feel that PaleMoon is more/less a one man show taking the most recent ESR release (which currently happen to be 24.5.0.) to remove "some" features before rebuilding using some "modern" compiler flags. Since it's still debated wether the new interface can "easily" be stripped off from the next ESR release' code base (FF 32?, due in September 2014?) I dropped it.

On Windows, I'm sticking with Pale Moon at least until Fx 32 (?) will bring better context menus which are heavily depending on Australis for whatever reason. :)

strange thing, but exactly 29 took my attention as a good release, while before FF was always too little on features/too slow with extentions. :|

With all the bad reviews out there I was a bit reluctant to upgrade to 29 myself, but after I did and a couple days of using it I don't really understand what all the fuss was about? Yes, it looks different but I didn't even bother to spend time on customising it back to what it looked like before, so I'm either easily adapting to changes like this or just too lazy...

@Filehero (mainly):

how could I generate a list of my installed add-ons, other than typing each and every one?
is there a way?

-do you guys know a method or extension so I could change the accelerator keys or even assign them to context menu items added by add-ons?

TIA!

I did it with Extension List Dumper. As for changing the accerlerator keys I have no idea.

With 31 my scolling problem seems to have become lighter. :D
