Edit:
After deleting all 'dead' shortcuts from my network places,
tracker eventually connected to: \\Www.msnusers.com
Which I assume was cached somewhere previously..

However, this is with v360 which doesn't generate any
of the errors mentioned above.

Cannot reproduce.
What exactly are you doing to generate the bug?
Selecting the "My Network places" icon (special folder) on the left pane,
that's all!

I just checked on my other primary partition, C: fat32/Win ME and generated similar error though a bit different:
run time error 97:

cannot call friend function on object which
is not an instance of defining class
About ~10 cascading popup windows opened with same error and eventually "tracker caused general error in 'unknown'" and quit.

(These are quite common VB specific errors! )

-Removed beta, applied release--no error!
--Reapllied previous beta, same error(s)!

First error (91) was on partition D:/Ntfs/Win XP/sp2 but after trying the 'release' here it made matters worse on the 'My network places'...
The icon/folder had expandable mark, and selecting it caused tracker to
loop in efforts to connect, I guess, eventually became
non-responsive and had to be 'killed'.

If it can't be reproduced, I guess I'll settle for de-selecting ' show nethood'
in configurations. :?

beautiful, wow! 8)
That 'temp' bug was with me for a looong time...

!Minor new bug in last beta:

"My network places" folder within the left panel in tracker
produced the following:
Run time error '91':
Object variable or With block variable not set
and quit.
Yet manually navigating to actual path, (e.g. %profile%\nethood..)
if fine.
Currently there was not much in that folder, other than 'dead' icon pointing to msn groups..
In win explorer it did cause slight delay, but no errors.
Deleting the shortcut had no effect on tracker's error.

Thanks for breaking your silence!
The history folder will be back in the next BETA, and the TEMP folder will be the right one, too.

Quick addition:
If logged to main partition C:. the 'temp' bug does not apply.
The favorites menu finds it.
However another dirive letter seems to be the trouble.
I'm not sure if it's only applicable to extended partitions or anything other than C: ??
(All other special folders are being recognised just fine!?)

As for the 'history' bug, it's definitely in 'v4.00.0039'--
Just reproduced it on C: as well.

P.S:
While trying to figure out the 'history' enigma from D:
Tracker started pointing out more dirs as 'currently not available'.
Ended up flagging "MyComputer" as not available :?
..And --crashed..
Faulting application trackerv3.exe, version 4.0.0.39,
faulting module oleaut32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180,
fault address 0x00004874

few bugs...

Post by free » 17 Apr 2005 14:14

* Revision of handling of unavailable paths: no more message boxes,
but simply a greyed out file list
Been a silent fan for a while but this prompted me to post...
As soon as I loaded the latest beta, the %profile%\history folder
and sunfolders are no longer available!
-Removed entire tracker, ini, even the find file templates.dat -- no go!
Removed beta, applied 'release', History folders are available!

Exact msg is:
'curently not available:'
..'Docs n settings'\*user*\local settings\history\history.ie5\<path to subfolders'

-Speaking of path and %profile%:
Long time bug that accompanied all prev and current beta/releases.
-Favorites>special folders>temp folder
Always defaults to my current drive! it does not find the sys temp or the profile temp!
Reason is likely to be.. this is partitioned while logged into "d:"(winxp)
And "c:" (WinME) but D: is a logical drive in an extended partition!

A while ago on another computer it behaved the same..
While dual-booting to D:/win2K(c/win98) top menu temp pointed the drive itself(d:) to be temp folder.
It is definitely NOT using the standard PATH statement in env variables
but somehow looking at the drive structure differently.

v4.00.0039 - 16.04.05 18:47
    * Revision of handling of unavailable paths: no more message boxes,
but simply a greyed out file list. Just select any tree folder
to put the tab back to real life (or leave it in ghost state until
      its target is available again).
! Crashed on huge file copy jobs due to some experimental change in
v4.00.0016. Fixed by removing the experiment. I told you it's
      BETA, didn't I?
