Re: Cannot get bulk rename option *.aaa to convert extension
Thank you for your reply. I am using the "*.aaa" pattern and I cannot get it to work. It simply inserts the pattern .aaa at the end of the existing file name and does not convert the case of the extension. When you say you're using the *.aaa pattern, you mean using which rename feature ? ...

Re: Cannot get bulk rename option *.aaa to convert extension
I'm assuming you're using Batch Rename that way (I believe it's the default), and as the text/info says: "The original file extensions remain unchanged. Unless the pattern is suffixed with /e." So, using *.aaa/e should get the extension changed to aaa You could also use simply use the &quo...

Re: File/folder coloring for Background Jobs
+1, with the caveat that when selecting one or more top folders with a lot of folders and/or files underneath, things could get a bit hairy performance-wise? I don't think it would be a good idea, for reasons like that, or the fact that one same item could be in more than one job which could lead t...

Re: Background Jobs
bootmgr: very good! :D bak: good, too, because: This means something radical happened on the way to Win7: they changed the index of the default icon from 3 (Win95 - XP) to 0 (Win7, Vista???). Not something to win the heart of programmers. I mean, #3 for default always felt a little funny but we got...

Re: Background Jobs
jacky , I uploaded a new version (without making a post in the BETA section here), please download again and try methods 6,7,8 with a *.bak file. Still all zero? Yes. Well, there are some changes though, but not for BAK files and such. For those, it's all zero's still and for all 9 methods, yes (an...

Re: Background Jobs
Do all files without extension have the same icon (like C:\bootmgr ) on your system (I mean using WE)? Well, C:\bootmgr isn't really a file like the others. That would be more C:\BOOTSECT.BAK actually (unknown extension). In WE, just like in XY's rename preview (RP), C:\bootmgr does have a special ...

Re: Background Jobs
This is really disturbing. To debug it I added (NEXT beta) a temporary scripting command getsysiconindex Ok, re-using the same files as earlier, here's what I'm getting: File: C:\bootmgr Icon: 61, 61, 61, 61, 61, 0 File: C:\BOOTSECT.BAK Icon: 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 And again, for all files of "unkno...

Re: Background Jobs
In the Details (of a job) window, I wish files with "unknown" extension/type would get the usual/blank icon, instead of no icon at all. IOW be it as in the List, otherwise it looks like those files don't exists or something... And actually, that also applies to Rename Preview. Makes sense...

Re: Scripting Bugs
Don, I know you told me you couldn't add a tweak which made all scripted file ops occur in the foreground and be blocking, as they were before XYcopy. But couldn't you add a tweak that forces a "Setting('BackgroundFileOps', 0);" before every script? That seems like it would be incredibly ...

Re: Background Jobs
Thanks, better that way :) BTW, this doesn't work for me: - In a paused queue with a couple of pending jobs you can use the following trick to manipulate the order of jobs: Choose the next job you want to start, and check "Skip Job" from its context menu. Then uncheck "Skip Job" ...

Re: Background Jobs
Is it me, or did you forgot to update XYcopy.exe in the latest beta? BJ jobs don't work, and the config tells me I have 0024 but need at least 0026.
I just re-downloaded it to check, but the ZIP contains 0024.
