Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
Do you also get a freeze when you rename a file in the list using simple inline rename? I was. Yes. That and right clicking on a folder on both the local drive and/or a network folder. Both would kill my XY...sometime to the point of having to restart the box. For me - this sort of thing was Window...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
This thread is starting to stray off topic  I want XYplorer to completely replace Explorer as much as the next guy, but let's please keep discussion of such to other threads/forums :) Agreed. Back on track. In Windows 7 - I was freezing by the minute when browsing network shares. In Vista 64 ...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
No, also WE XP and every other file manager I've seen has DESKTOP at top level. I deliberately decided in version 1.0 of XYplorer (then called "Tracker") that I prefer My Computer on top, and up to now (> 10 years later) I've heard little complaints... :) Not complaining - just asking if ...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
I don't fully understand yet. C:\Users\*Username* is a real path (this should work of course in XY). But they are shown directly under MyComputer in the V/7 tree? You have a screenshot? No - I didn't say there were stored under My Computer in Vista/7 explorer. In the screencap - you can see the Use...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
Under XP they are subfolders of My Documents. Is that different under V/7? Oh yes...totally different. They are all separate folders in V/7 under: C:\Users\*Username* If something could be done in XY to facilitate choosing which of these special folders appear in the tree - that would be fab. It so...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
Windows 7 Ultimate x64. And I'm working off of a drive mapped to a remote share on another workstation in the same domain (running XP). It's the same machine I worked with while my own machine was running XP, and I didn't have this issue. Identical experience over here - but ONLY when I moved to Wi...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
Another piece of information - this same behavior (roughly) occurs when I'm renaming files on a remote share. There are several seconds of non-responsiveness when I rename a file, which makes it a royal pain when I have to rename multiple files. It's useless to try tabbing from one file rename to a...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
Something else I'm noticing. When this happens, and XY freezes for a few seconds - when it comes back, XY momentarily dissappears from the taskbar and reappears all the way on the right - as if it shut down and restarted itself. I have seen this as well...but only on Win 7....since my switch back t...

Re: XYplorer crashes when right clicking on list / tree items
Just an update on this - I wiped the machine (due to ongoing hassles with Windows 7) and went back to Vista 64 Business SP2 - and just as I expected - I have not encountered a single issue, freeze, glitch or anything...with all the usual suspects appearing on the context menu....just the way it was ...

Re: XYplorer crashes when right clicking on list / tree items
Between 8.70 and 8.80 nothing concerning the shell context menu was changed in the code. Therefore I don't know where to look. No blood trace. Hmm...it must be something either in 7 or I may have some rogue extension wreaking havoc. However - Windows 7 has exposed enough rough edges in the past few...

Re: XYplorer crashes when right clicking on list / tree items
Crashes on right-clicking are in 100% of all cases caused by third party shell extensions. Anything suspicious in your context menu? Hmm...I have Tag N Rename installed...WinRAR...ESET AV...my usual complement of tools...nothing oddball or esoteric tho....this core set of tools has been in use for ...

Re: XYplorer crashes when right clicking on list / tree items
Yes! This is/was tied to my comment in the thread about "temp non-responsive network shares"...but this is more like what I am seeing. Under Windows 7 for sure - I am getting very very sporatic "freezes"...which then turn into a full blown crash...when right clicking on a folder ...

Re: Temporary non-responsive freezes on network drives
I see. It has maybe to do with how the connection was established initially. When you establish the connection using Explorer and then do the file operation using XYplorer -- does this work better? There is definitely something going on here - especially in Windows 7 - running Windows 7 32 bit and ...
