Revert the location of "Favorites" in the pull down menu
This is just a tiny wish, but I'm not a fan of the new location of the "Favorites" menu in the "Favorites" pull down menu. It used to be the top-most item, which was very handy when using KB shortcuts to access it. With the new location, it's an added step. Obviously, this is not...

New command: Create Shortcut in Other Pane
Here's a simple request regarding dual panes: There is currently a "Copy to Other Pane" and "Move to Other Pane" command. I would like to request one more - "Create Shortcut in Other Pane". This should work for both files and folders. I need to do this all the time, and...

Zip support often doesn't work if triggered by KB
Here's an odd bug that's been with XY for many versions - but I keep forgetting to post it. If you have a ZIP file selected and you use only the keyboard to bring up the context menu and unzip it - half the time, nothing happens. It's as if the command request just dissappeared and XY doesn't realiz...

Excellent call! Yes, deleting by context menu works.
However, the list pane for the cell phone doesn't automatically refresh afterwards. But that's a lot farther than I got with trying any of the other methods.

Re: Portable Devices - File name errors
It's the oddest thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I was just testing with an empty text file, incrementally increasing the file name, and it never had any problems copying over. Of course, when I went to delete all those files from the phone, XY couldn't do it. Any single file, XY ...

Re: Portable Devices - File name errors
Most of the time, I'm in dual pane mode and hitting Ctrl+F6 to copy from one pane to the other. I don't think I tried different methods, as I would think it's the same root function.
I've done this with both single files as well as multiple files. Sometimes it works, many times I get this error.

Portable Devices - File name errors
When transferring files to portable devices (cell phone), I'm still frequently getting errors of the type: "The file name you specified is not valid or too long. Specify a different file name". After clicking Cancel, XY crashes about half the time. Transferring the same file via Explorer h...

Re: XY hangs when disconnecting dead network drives
How very odd, because that certainly doesn't describe what I see. When I try to disconnect a dead network drive, XY is completely non-responsive. About 10-20 seconds in, the disconnect dialog box pops out into its own taskbar object, but both it and XY are still nonresponsive. I have no choice but t...

Re: XY hangs when disconnecting dead network drives
I'll have to test it out, but I expect it will be the same, given that it's an API call. However, I also don't expect Explorer to optimize anything. So to go back to my earlier question, do you think this is something that will lend itself to running gracefully in a worker thread? Or do you feel it'...

Re: XY hangs when disconnecting dead network drives
Okay, so let's say that you're mapping a shared folder on another machine. You map this shared folder to a drive letter. While the second machine is on, you can disconnect the drive at any time, and it will occur instantly. However, if you turn off that second machine first, you'll still have your m...

Re: XY hangs when disconnecting dead network drives
Is it possible to spawn a worker thread for the api call so that it doesn't cause XY to hang? Or will it hang any and all file managers until it's complete?

Re: XY hangs when disconnecting dead network drives
A network share is periodically mapped to a drive letter. However, if the network share goes offline, certain actions in XY (such as a general refresh) causes XY to hang. If I unmap the drive letter while it's still up, it unmaps instantly. But if the share is down, unmapping causes XY to hang for s...

Re: Column settings not remembered for portable devices
Of course, right after I post this, on my next attempt, my settings are remembered.
