Re: Missing shortcut from Desktop

Show the Public AND Private files on the Desktop is not possible; I could only give you an option to choose between the two -- not very useful I'd say... It appears that this is a rare limitation of XY because Windows Explorer shows both. It's a shame that XY can't make coffee and order pizza as we...

Re: Missing shortcut from Desktop

XY only shows you files and folders. Windows additionally has some other means to bring "shortcuts" on the Desktop, but these are not LNK files. That particular shortcut is an a LNK file. However, it turns out that when that shortcut was placed it was sent to Users -> Public -> Desktop an...

I suppose it works well enough. It's just if I have this setting enabled then I'd like for it to work on-the-fly. No harm though.

Missing shortcut from Desktop

The screenshot below pretty much speaks for itself in terms of what is going on. It appears that Desktop node of the tree isn't showing the GetRight shortcut that is on the desktop. Quite puzzling, to be honest with you...

Re: Auto-resize of columns

I think you're mistaking on what the feature does : it does not enforce that all columns are always autosized all the time, but auto-resize them as you browse around. But you're still free to resize your columns, and you can always trigger View|Columns|Autosize Columns Now at will. I see what you m...

Re: Auto-resize of columns

...why should you be forced to first disable autosize, do your resizing, and then remember to re-enable auto-resize. I think because while you're resizing manually the "Autosize..." is still enabled and therefore should carry out its function. Likewise, if you accidentally resized a colum...

Re: Auto-resize of columns

Whether the following is a bug or I simply misinterpreted a feature, I'm not entirely sure. Basically, in View -> List Style, I have "Autosize Columns" enabled, but I am still able to manually increase/decrease the width of all but one column. I know that there is a CKS and a Function ID t...

Re: Columns for Mediainformation (ID3, and more)

This is an interesting one to ponder because it is possible to add such columns in Windows Explorer. However, media information is available through Info Panel's Preview tab. I think if columns are added for audio files then, in a way, it will be slightly discriminatory to other types of files (vide...

Re: clicking in between the [+]" "Folder doesnt do anything

Well, I think it was a bug. I changed it so that clicking between +/- and icon always is like clicking directly on +/-. In narrow and wide tree. That's great for the sake of consistency across both tree styles! The reason why I didn't think it was a bug is because in "Narrow Tree" mode th...

Re: clicking in between the [+]" "Folder doesnt do anything

when clicking on the folder tree in between the "[+] Folder" it doesnt expand tree or select the drive (what explorer does) (ie [+]"click"Folder), this is kinda annoying since sometimes i miss the + and it doesn't do what i want it to do :) That's not a bug, it's a feature (I gu...

Re: Best way to make ALL tabs have same layout?

Oh, and don't worry...Don reads all sections equally, so bugs can get fixed via reports here as well! No need to create duplicate threads. Oops, too late! I've already created a thread in the Bugs section, sorry about that. I also think every bug deserves a thread so others can share their e...

FVS is always on

Using the latest beta (.0066), I came across a bit of a hiccup with me unable to switch off FVS once I've enabled this feature. I've tried navigating to different folders and restarting XY, but the tick next to "Enable Folder View Settings" remains. If it's me who is being silly somewhere,...

Re: Best way to make ALL tabs have same layout?

My first guess would be to save your layout as default profile in Folder View Settings, but, having thought about that, I couldn't think of a way to deploy those settings globally across all tabs. Incidentally, Windows Explorer in Vista (and XP, if I recall correctly) has an ability to view settings...

Vista arrows are good in the Address Bar so each part of a location is segmented. Within the tree itself the arrows aren't a big deal to me...
