If a path or file is accessed so often, why not just add it to Favorite Folders/Files or the Catalog?

Re: Preview pane

a) When "leaving the file I get hit with "This document has been modified. Do you want to save changes?" This is a long-standing nuisance within Excel itself and is probably occurring because, as you suspect in point b, the preview is probably invoking Excel to open the file outright...

Re: Preferred method for backup

Seeing that there are no replies yet this post, I'll throw in my "2 cents", FWIW: I use 3 separate programs for doing all my backups, because there 3 distinct backup use cases that are important to me: 1. Backup4all : I use this to backup all my stuff that's not music or video and I use th...

Re: Add path length to status bar info for selected file

That's a reasonable workaround. I would still prefer a solution with StatusBar3OnFile.

Re: Add path length to status bar info for selected file

Maybe it's enough for you to have the len in the tool tip?
No, as per my original post, I use the tooltips now for to get the len, but it's cumbersome.

Seems to be working fine now, and the toolbar button as well.

Re: Catalog as optional floating, stay-in-front, non-modal p

that the implementation is relatively easy? how can it be relatively easy if Don said those are heavy wishes!? :) Well, I'm assuming Don would have at least one or the other of 2 reasons to be reluctant: One being the cost of implementation and the other being his own repugnance about the particula...

Re: Add path length to status bar info for selected file

There's a tweak: ; Tweak: E.g. <curname><curver , v*>, mod <datem> StatusBar3OnFile="" I'm not entirely sure what the code for Len is, but the above tweak sets the information displayed in the third part of the statusbar. These tweaks are rather cryptic. I need more help on this one. I tr...

Re: Any interest in taking over development of Locate32?

You should use this beta (alpha) version, 1.2.1.451a, which has some improvements, such as search history and auto-completion: http://forum.voidtools.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=592 Thank you for the "heads up". Alas, as you can see from that post, the current alpha version was created by...

Re: Any interest in taking over development of Locate32?

Can't remember a time without using locate32 . That said, at first blush Everything.exe looks promising and will try it for awhile. The latter software seems to have the advantage in simplicity of operation. You should use this beta (alpha) version, 1.2.1.451a, which has some improvements, such as ...

Add path length to status bar info for selected file

I'd very much like to be able to see the path length of the currently selected file on the status bar. I am always creating very long paths and routinely checking for paths over 255 chars as I go. But doing that check involves moving the mouse over the selected file and picking out the path length f...

Re: Any interest in taking over development of Locate32?

I haven't used Locate32, but have found Everything.exe (from http://voidtools.com ) to be hands-down, the fastest, best implemented name-based search tool there is. While it does maintain a minimal index of sorts, it's not done in the cumbersome, performance impacting way of other similar tools. (I ...

Re: Upgrade full screen preview for images?

don, while you're at it, can you also add the mouse wheel for navigating? this is also a common feature in other image viewing programs...- browse with mouse wheel scroll up/down for previous/next image while in full screen mode preview mode [limit this browsing to only images, skipping other files...

Re: type ahead

You have an example? A bit tricky to find a reproducible case because it's intermittent, even with the same listing of files. Sometimes when it happens, typing just one single matching letter doesn't work when it should. So it doesn't seem to be just a problem of the interval between keystrokes. I'...
