FWIW, I also have very slow startups of XYplorer. I run it once shortly after rebooting and it stays open always.
I just closed and re-opened it, and it took a second or two under two minutes for the window to appear.

Re: What is the difference between copy to & backup to?
Yep, j_c was right on the dot. Might be German being my first language and trying to find something like "u.s.w." which literally translates to "and so on". Maybe I should rather use "etc." which is more international. Yes, along with a comma before. But, you would not...

Problem — XYplorer is getting stuck
For a while now, XYplorer has been giving me problems. When I perform some operation on the file pane, it becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. It's getting quite annoying and is one of the main reasons to use XY instead of Microsoft's default explorer in the first place! Any clues on how to troub...

Re: Show off your Xyplorer!
Indeed, I've never seen the tree open-path highlight before, so I'm learning about features. So let me point out a few things I do: I also noticed your big yellow RECYCLE.BIN on the first post. I think it's exactly backwards to highlight/emphasize files that are nominally "hidden"! So I ma...

Re: Throwing Out Ideas for Future of XYplorer
Not just shell extensions, but another issue: In a 32-bit process, the emulation layer sees its own (e.g.) SYSTEM32 directory, not the real one. That can be confusing when trying to look at that directory, or copy files to/from such a directory. There are documented ways to get the "real" ...

Re: OT: What's up with Japan?
The ability to handle Unicode filenames is fairly new. Is the UI and instructions translated? Does it handle IME's cleanly? If so, you might need exposure in Japanese blogs and reviewers. My wife's family back in China don't use my video conferencing product because it doesn't have Chinese instructi...

Re: Drive letters are not the only Volumes
Even if another one like it is already going, it creates a new thread to work at the same time?admin wrote:It means that it will not move into line in any queue but start immediately (i.e. will open its own XYcopy process).

Re: Drive letters are not the only Volumes
No, I cannot. Too many complications. I'll turn on "Apply To... Move intra-volume" which I suppose means it will always be non-blocking even if the source and dest have the same drive letter. The parenthetical remarks are less clear: "(runs at once in parallel process)" as oppos...

Re: Learning English
Looking at what Windows does for its own configuration, “Choose a display language” and “Current language for non-Unicode programs:”
“Installing” makes them available so they may be “chosen” when desired.

Drive letters are not the only Volumes
When I "move" a bunch of huge files from (example) C:\Media\CF\⋯ to C:\Images\Days\⋯, XYplorer does not send it to a background task, thus locking up the program for perhaps twenty minutes. C:\Media\CF is the mount point for a card reader, and C:\Images is a junction for G:\@MP\Images. But...

Re: Unicode file names stopped working
Now if only we can get forum names to show Unicode. The “ł” in my name is getting munged to a doubly-escaped Entity code, but it was accepted as OK when I signed up. My name is the same as this guys's.

Re: Unicode file names stopped working
Correction : Win7 right out of the box can display Chinese file names in the file explorer and in desktop icons, no problem. The font, according to the classic Window Appearance control panel page, is Segoe UI, which itself doesn't have Chinese characters in it, and cannot be picked by the XYplorer...

Re: Unicode file names stopped working
The Font chooser dialog box on your Settings|Fonts|Choose… does not show all the fonts. Arial Unicode MS is missing, as is Code 2000. The Script: dropdown (why would it care for Unicode?) doesn't show Chinese.

Re: Unicode file names stopped working
What font are you using for the Main Contents (look in Configuration > Fonts). It's Tahoma 10.5. Odd, because I recall seeing it display Chinese once. I thought “cool” when I saw it, shortly after reading about the new feature. So if it simply uses one font rather than separate fonts for Western/As...

Re: Unicode file names stopped working
How do these names look like on that same system, when viewed with a MS Windows Explorer? Could you attach a screenshot of it? My wife's computer is currently in pieces, so I can't try it again right now. But as I recall, Chinese file names don't show on my "normal" EN-us Windows 7 system...
