Hmm, looks like the .ini file is just a stub. Here's the one from the %appdata%\XYplorer\ location. Note I also renamed the catalog.dat (effectively deleting it) and that made no difference to startup time.

For example, if you copy XYPlorer.exe to c:\temp … , and then run it from there, you'll get a completely clean start for XY. I'm guessing it will be much faster starting up. I don't follow. How is XYplorer running from a temp dir? I ran the installer from the Download dir, and it rewrote the files in the directory under "Program Files (x86)".

OK. How's that different from the normal update process? After installing 13.00 (upgraded from 12.90) and launching it, it took a minute and a half to show the window. Windows' own File Explorer shows 4 items under "networks". You only show 3. (the autocomplete upon typing \\ in the location field is the same)

The three that show are all Win7 machines, including this machine.
The one that doesn't show is a NAS that I know is using Samba.

It's gotten to the point where the program is unusable! Any time I do something, there is a long pause where the app is unresponsive. How can I get to the bottom of this?

Windows Defender already lists XYplorer and XYcopy as exclusions. I don't find MS Security Essentials in the Security panel or in the Find results, so I'm pretty sure it didn't sneak in to my machine.

I wonder if there is some kind of instrumentation that I can use to find out where it is sticking.

Recycle bin is rarely used. I run CCleaner each time I have to reboot, and at the moment there were 6 items in the recycle.

I don't think it's the same. Even deleting a file causes a freeze-up.

Custom Copy is not checked.
