Here are some mockups I did to show the general idea: The full size versions are 1920 px wide. The reduced size versions are 1024 px wide. But because these were created at 1920, the reduced size versions are going to be fuzzy. I'd recommend the full size for people who don't mind panning. ---------...

I think I covered that aspect later in my posting, as it's the screen space that dual trees (left/right) chew up that could be used better for list area...in a top-bottom DP, the space isn't as much of an issue, but even there, a single tree allows one to have more of a given area/section visible a...

:D Kate Winslet is currently in Cologne shooting a movie. She could bring me some bottles on your behalf. You happen to have her number?

Sad to say, but I don't. However, if I find a business that does this (and speaks English), I'll do my best to make good on it. :)

3. Seperate trees for each pane! To me, this is an absolute must, because - while counterintuitive - having a single shared tree is significantly *less* efficient than having seperate trees for each pane. I think this may be true for some users but not all users! I, for one, am perfectly happy with...

Thank you. I hope other DP folks will read your post and contribute to it. :!: For me, this is an experiment . And I will pay back with a promise : If it turns out that the DP folks here in the forum can join in one clear and simple DP concept, I will implement (this kind of) DP in XYplorer 8.0 . N...

Auto-Refresh on File System Changes and slow netwrk browsing

The configuration option "Auto-Refresh on File System Changes / In network locations as well" makes a huge difference in the speed that file lists are loaded when browsing network drives. I was wondering if anyone could give me a little more detail on how this setting works (for example, w...

As it might not surprise you, I'm not going into the DP discussion again here and now. However, I want to let you know that I read every word of your longish posts because I saw them well written and thought out. And they indeed made me curious: can you show me a good dual pane implementation ? Is ...

I'm not saying using a compare tool to do it systematically, but the view in these tools is meant for comparing items. The interface is set up for the exact task that you're trying to accomplish. Right, because it's dual pane! In the case where you're trying to compare files that are of different n...

I still don't understand why you (or anyone else for that matter) would prefer visually comparing in a dual pane file manager over using an actual comparison tool. Could you (or anyone else) please elaborate on this? Begging your pardon, but I already did. http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php...

Its the other way around, DP users dont respect the fact that XY is an amazing file manager even without DP. Users want DP simply because other managers have it or they are used to it etc. Right - "simply because other managers have it or they are used to it etc...". Thank you for proving...

I have come to believe that the XY experience is more than just using a file manager it is a load of fun seeing it progress. Also, Don is very shrewd with this product, it is not all about sales, it is personal pride and XY shows that in every way. You can tell I am a fan but I'm not alone, so I do...

Wow, so much text and emotions in one topic. I totally agree that some users are used to DP and leaving that can have withdrawal effects. I am not trying to say that one way is better than other. If a user is comfortable with one setup then i totally respect that. But for those who came from non-DP...

...so...have you thought about using dual monitors so that you could have one XY session on each? I appreciate the suggestion, but that's definitely overkill. It's like saying in response to a bug which makes an app run much slower than it should, that perhaps the users should just buy a faster com...

That's why I'd agreed that it would be useful to have...and that I was hoping there might be an alternate solution...Did you see my addendum/update (blue text)? I didn't see it when I made the post you quoted, but I saw it right afterwards - which is when I replied to the updated text. BTW, I'm kin...
