Re: Count occurrences in a string
It's only effortless after you figure out how to do it. That's why I'm asking for a direct count where folks would look first (regex or string functions).

Re: Want: Count occurrences in a string
Sorry highend - I had a brainwave right after posting and edited mine - but you replied even faster. I did miss "gettoken" in this case, and I did make "gettokenindex" do it with a wildcard. I think it's still worth asking for a pattern count, especially with regex. Thanks EDIT: ...

Count occurrences in a string
I've wanted this several times; somehow got by without, so tell me if I'm missing something obvious... --> I want to count how many times a pattern occurs in a string. I suggest a flag on some existing function (regexmatches or strpos seem likely) to do this. AFAIK only gettokenindex has anything li...

Re: Want: Copy To List
The most common use case is an album or boxed set parent folder containing many CD subfolders into which I want to copy an image file of the album cover This is very close to my own case. In general, this need will arise occasionally when maintaining large collections. So there is a predictable use...

Want: Copy To List
I have two files selected, and on the clipboard a list of 500 paths gathered via "To Clipboard | Item Paths". I want a direct way to copy these two file to each of those paths. My first thought is an option in "Edit | Copy To..." to paste the paths into the destination list. But ...

Re: Opening a powershell / command prompt??
In "Settings | Menus, Mouse, Safety | Context Menus" there is a box to enable "Open Command Prompt Here". Maybe that's what you need.

Re: MiniTree clear history on exit
This script does clear the full tree info, as I wanted, and is useful for that. I'll put it on a button and try to remember to use that when I want a tidy exit. Thanks.

Re: MiniTree clear history on exit
That script is an interesting idea, but I did want it to be automatic. The "History" box is already unchecked. Still, tree information is saved and reappears when I restart XY. If I manually use List Management | MiniTree | Clear List that info disappears. That's what I want to achieve aut...

MiniTree clear history on exit
I want an option to discard the MiniTree history on exit. I want to retain the overall "keep settings on exit". The Settings selections for clearing MRU lists presently have nothing for MiniTree. Maybe a checkbox could be added there, defaulting to "keep". Good for privacy at lea...

My list of step mode / debug wishes had some similar things; a few were very simple:

Re: Task scheduler + bacup with path
Cool script
Does "How Many Days" mean how many days this is to be active, or how many days between runs?
I didn't want to actually create a Scheduler task to find out...

Re: F4 misbehaves on Windows 10
Then it's probably due to a Windows or display driver hotkey setting that's overriding XY's F4 on my PC. I didn't think so because the Intel graphics display hotkeys show as "disabled". But if it's not an XY issue it must be the bigger system. EDIT - further investigation shows it happens ...

F4 misbehaves on Windows 10
In a "::fresh" instance of v17.20.0200, press F4.
On my Win10 64-bit PC this causes XY to create a copy of itself, but at huge size, in the background. This doesn't happen on a Win7 32-bit with v17.10 Free which is the only other platform available to me now.

Re: SimpleUpdater — Rev. 10.69 / 2016/06/19
Well, I think any name other than "SimpleUpdater" would be fine for the temp folder, and would not cause a problem since it is internal to SU's operation and gets deleted anyway.
