The thing is, if you want it to work on any subfolder structure you should rename the deepest nested ones first... So, this should be rather fast (about half a second on a structure with 2000 files in 612 folders with about 20 doc and 5 xls files). Test conducted with a ram disk to rule out slow hdd...

The file endings are .3gp, why are you adding *.gp? This won't match .3gp...

Judging from your former screenshot(s), Cyberlink was associated with .mp4, not VLC.
Cyberlink has been (haven't used it in years because of that) a monster regarding the modification

Are you sure that you don't have any running applications / running scripts in the background, that automatically move the text script command's window? Thanks for the link. No, it's not a codec issue. XY does preview this file as well without any installed external codec(s). So there is only one logical conclusion: A 3rd-party software product on your computer (my guess: your player that is registered for .mp4 files) left the original mp4 codec in ...

Instead of clearing you could just use it's normal shortcut (alt + f3) to hide the box while in the list pane (which clears it automatically)
