Re: Favorite & recommended programs - general
If you sell on any of the online marketplaces i.e. eBay, Amazon, Play etc then I would really recommend you look at Packing Partner by AimCo software. This software extracts the sales info from the site and prints it out for you, lets you print address lablels, picking lists and plenty more. It just...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
I've got to say my "dream" setting is looking further and further away. nas8e9 already mentioned this, with some xy scripting this can definitely be done. 1) You need a list of ini values that are unique to the two PCs, for example WinW, WinH, SplitPos etc. 2) Use a xy script at startup t...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
Dual pane; of course! From a quick look in XYplorer.ini, it seems pane sizes are absolute rather than relative to screen size, meaning XYplorer.ini-editing would be required at startup if you want to automate this. I've just set the laptop to single pane and everything fits perfectly, including the...

You're obviously a knowlegable tinkerer (and helpful too) so you could set up a free DropBox or SugarSync account, download the portable trial of XYP and play.
But I guess that might backfire as we may not see you on the forum for a while.

Just in case you don't know photobucket
Click on a picture, when it opens bigger then hover the mouse over and click "Zoom" "Original size" this will display the pic at native resolution.

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
I think I've hit a problem with my masterplan of including XYP (portable) in the synchronized folders so I can have exactly the same instance of XYP on any of my synchronized machines. I set up XYP on my desktop which has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080. The laptop I synchronize it with has a re...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
Something you guys may be able to help me with, which may give me another option, is that my laptop was bought second hand and the seller did a restore and he told me that he had to use the original User Name to setup the new installation. Is that correct as if not the I could do another restore an...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
There seems to be two ways of changing the User name. 1) Through Windows and as you say this is just a bit of window dressing that doesn't change anything deep down. 2) Do a deep level rename. There are a few ways of doing this some scarier than others but I have found one way that seems quite stra...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
I intend to do the rename shortly and will post what happens. I'm a newbie so will only be able to tell you about the features that I use which aren't too many at the moment. If memory serves, this may not work: when renaming an existing user account in Windows, the login name and its display are c...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
Now I can rename the User on the second computer to match that on the first which I believe will resolve both issues as I work on exactly the same data on both computers. Does changing the stored paths (tabs, catalog, etc.) from C:\Users\Username\ to C:\Users\ % UserName % \, i.e. change the hardco...

Re: Compatibility with synchronization service question
Don Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I did reply before but maybe the session timed out and it got lost. If you look ay synchronization from a technical perspective you're correct it is merely compare and match. But if you look at it from a users perspective it's something else. A typ...
