Re: Unbuffered custom copy/move

Are you maybe using background processing? I just saw that I didn't implement it there.

Re: Unbuffered custom copy/move

Yes, it's totally easy to implement, just a flag. Just saw that you can already activate COPY_FILE_NO_BUFFERING via a tweak: v14.50.0102 - 2014-09-23 20:09 + Custom Copy: Added a tweak to customize the flags passed to CopyFileEx. The default flags (if the tweak is set to 0) are COPY_FILE_ALLOW_DECRY...

Re: Unbuffered custom copy/move

MS docs are not helpful: "... unbuffered I/O, bypassing system I/O cache resources. Recommended for very large file transfers." :|

Re: Unbuffered custom copy/move

Would that be a value per file, or the summary size of all files in the copy job? I assume the former.

Re: Unbuffered custom copy/move

Yes, I could add that. Good feature idea actually!

Question is: Make it a general setting ("Use no buffering" or so), or make it automatically set in from a certain threshold (files > 1 GB or so)?

Re: XYplorer not accessible during network copying

Got it. Not a very common situation it seems.

I looked a bit at this flag (Assume that servers are available) and could improve it a bit. It might be already perfect for you, but for others it will be perfect in the next beta.

Re: XYplorer not accessible during network copying

Let's make a test first. Try these two scripts (paste into address bar and press ENTER). Which is faster? Do both work?

Code: Select all

text get("network", 0); //NOT use NetServerEnum

Code: Select all

text get("network", 1); //use NetServerEnum

Re: XYplorer not accessible during network copying

Well, I will experimentally add a tweak to skip "enumerating servers in Network..." but I don't think network browsing will work well with it.

Welcome to the club!

And thanks for the info. I cannot reproduce this here (PDF, ODT), so it might be another Office quirk.

Re: Can't access any network addresses

Well, could be. I don't go deep enough here to know. I just use the API that Windows provides for network enumeration. I always try to use the latest API available, but since Win10 is so poorly documented you can never know...

Re: Drag and what...? - Mapped drive vs. network share

Yes, I see your point. Probably mapped paths should be resolved to the original UNC paths before determining whether the operation is intra-volume or cross-volume. However, retrieving the UNC path is a complex operation that *can* take time or even fail (network is never predictable), and I would no...
