I've been secretly watching in hope that the 'secret sauce' would finally be revealed (thx kiwichick for reviving this)! So thx highend for doing so because this is WAY above my head! I was naive to think I could tackle scripting something like this at my current level.
Works great!

Re: Rename only part of a file on certain conditions
Oh? Ok, well, if some kind soul could write it, if not too much trouble. Thx.I was only showing how building a new (base) name can be done. The script is neither written for multiple files / folders nor does it contain any rename command at all^^

Re: Rename only part of a file on certain conditions
Thx, but...it doesn't seem to be working? Pls tell me if I'm doing something wrong here.... - I selected the files I wanted to run the script on - I copy/pasted your first code (non-pro ;)) in the 'Run Script..." window and clicked OK...nothing happened? You need to learn to apply logic to thin...

Re: Rename only part of a file on certain conditions
Right, thx. I appreciate what you're doing, nudging me in the right direction so I can figure it out myself but I'm afraid I'm really not there yet. I'm very much a beginner and would have to learn all the syntax of of the scripting language (does it have a name?) and I have no clue whatsoever about...

Rename only part of a file on certain conditions
Hi, I'm eager to learn scripting as I've only just started my journey in coding and am at an early stage of learning Python. However, seeing little XY scripting snippets here and there tells me I should be able to already do a few basic scripts on my own! But what I'm trying to do now is maybe above...

Edit Orphans (All Drives): Allow browsing with Panes & Tabs in XY
It would be useful if it was possible to use XY normally when the 'Edit Orphans' window is open. Currently, it doesn't allow any clicking in the main XY window while the Configuration dialog is open. This would be really helpful to verify if i.e. the file+tag was maybe copied properly to another loc...

Re: Custom column with just personal text?
Perfect, thanks! I used the Extra columns (don't know why I missed that?). I'm already using the Comment column for another purpose so I needed the extra one, all good!

Custom column with just personal text?
Hi, I wanted to create a column that might contain information like the name of a person, a price of an item, etc...something that doesn't fall in any of the Column Properties or Special Properties. I thought Custom Columns was the way to go but once created, I can't find a way to edit the fields of...

Re: Integration of Everything [voidtools]
Everything inside of XY folder is a bad idea. Its not only the exe file but also many config files (ini and csv). They are clearly don't belong to XY and it has no benefit to mix this files into the XY folder. Oh? Well, I obviously see a benefit or I wouldn't be asking but if it's a bad idea and co...

Re: Integration of Everything [voidtools]
Well...not really for my case scenario because it points to the parent folder of XY so D:\Portable Apps\ and expects to also find the Everything folder there.
I want Everything to be INSIDE XY's folder.

Re: Integration of Everything [voidtools]
I want to keep my XY setup with Everything portable, so how can I set the path in the .ini to point to my Everything_x64 folder that I've placed inside XY's folder so, e.g.: D:\Portable Apps\XYPlorer\Everything_64 As it is now, with the default path, running the script pops a window showing it's exp...

Re: Tip: PDF preview with PDF-XChange Editor v6 (portable)
Oh? Ok so it will only work with v6 of XChange then? I have no problem creating an account and downloading the older version if that's what's required.
Just wondering though, since then, is there an alternative for previewing pdfs in XY or is this still the only solution?
