Re: Multi-user Tags and Comments
I came here searching for an readComment() feature. Since i think there is no such feature yet i want to remind on this implementation. You mean to read the comment of an item? If you can go to & select said item, just use report: msg report('{Comment}',1); Side note: anybody else gets an error...

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
(Which would require the use of a temp file) ? Not really (PostMessage/SendMessage, isn't it?) That would mean you're assuming any & all text editor support & respond the same way to those, and I'm not sure there's any basis for such an assumption. Thanks jacky but this is basically the sam...

Re: Scripting: new SC "notepad"
but i like to suggest an new scripting command "notepad" or "edit" to work like "text" but just open the default text editor instead. Does it have to be the default text editor (Which would require the use of a temp file) ? Cause otherwise, XY already provides such a f...

Re: Get backupto confused...
As long as we don't have parallel backups in the background (which is planned, of course), would you agree that the best solution would be a simple msgbox "Please wait until the currently running backup is completed." ? (I might add that this is the only solution I see. ) Yeah t...

Get backupto confused...
Hey there, Okay so this is somewhat of a "weird" bug, that probably results as something that one is not really supposed to do, but still. Here's how it goes : - you need a script that will trigger a backupto command. Actually, you need 2 scripts, each one to trigger a backupto to a differ...

Re: Dynamically Generated Menus
Daft topic titles aside, is it possible to use a CTB to show, say, the contents of a folder, and to have that menu change depending on what was in the folder? I know the POM button changes based on what's selected in the list, but wasn't sure if this sort of functionality is available for custom bu...

Various little things
Just a few little things I noticed upon upgrading : - Config|General: option "Show item count" is disabled when "Show folder sizes in file list" isn't enabled, it shouldn't be (since it also applies to manual trigger Calculate FS) - Previewed formats list: if one has as a manuall...

Re: 'Flatten folders' by moving all sub-folders . . .
The way I see it now, it does rather a "Rich Copy" of the search results?! Not exactly. A Rich Copy would need a root, and then preserver the folder structure below that point. Here he wants folders to be created, but only one, the one files were in. To be clear, if this is the source: Ne...

Don't ignore me, I'm the user!
Do you remember a discussion between zer0 and TheQwerty, where TheQwerty explained why it was good that, even in the case where the default value of a setting changed, XY doesn't actually make such change on update, only on fresh install? Let me refresh your memory: Since you balked about the deleti...

Re: 'Flatten folders' by moving all sub-folders . . .
If I understood correctly, I think this should work. - go to your folder 'New York' and do your search (e.g. Show All Items In Branch) - select the files you wanna move - run this script. it'll ask you for the destination folder, so if you select d:\tmp files will be moved to d:\tmp\city, d:\tmp\lib...

Re: Background Jobs
Thanks. So I think you should get the icon for BAK files etc in the small lists in the next version; but you will probably see the same icon also for non-existing files. So the nice feature to show no icon for non-existing files has been killed by Win7. :( (Sure I could simply check for existence.....

Re: Cannot get bulk rename option *.aaa to convert extension
Again, thank you for your help. In Batch Rename, if i use *.aaa/e, the preview shows that all extensions are changed to aaa, not converted to lower case. What version are you using? Have you actually tried the *.aaa pattern to convert the extension to lower case? Oh okay, sorry, little misunderstan...
