Re: Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit

By way of eliminating the obvious: when performing a similar operation with Windows Explorer, how does WE behave (both in terms of UI as well as CPU usage)? Using WE is smooth as a baby's bum. Nothing out of the ordinary on the CPU front and GUI is completely free for me to do with it as I wish. Ho...

Re: Auto-Refresh revisited

I made the mistake of not reading the change log thoroughly when XYcopy was introduced as described here . That's not it, I presume? I think it is. I wouldn't have thought so, since there is no file operation being undertaken by XY for this example. In which case, this option should appear in the m...

Re: Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit

When copying between internal HD's (SATA instead of USB) or "within" your main HD, does the same problem occur? Yes, it does. Copying from one internal [physical] SATA HDD to another internal [physical] SATA HDD results in a freeze of main XY window. The dialogue pop-up showing the transf...

Re: Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit

Cannot explain. :? Can you reproduce it? Sure, started a transfer of roughly the same volume of date between HDDs and XYplorer's main window locks up with a permanent busy mouse cursor on mouseover onto the window. I've tried copying 4 GB between two partitions on the same HD with 8.90.0009 beta wi...

Re: Auto-Refresh revisited

I know it was something of a known risk, but 8.90.0009 has auto refresh issues. For example, 1. If I open an instance of XY 8.90.0009 and XY 8.80.0336, and set them to the same directory... 2. On IE, save a picture to that directory... 3. XY 8.80.0336 shows the newly arrived file, whereas 8.90.0009...

Re: Tab to rename next in 8.90

Okay, another bug I noticed with 8.90.0009... Let me preface this by pointing out that there's an issue when working with video files on Win 7 x64. The O/S is trying to parse them in some way. As a result, working with them on a network share takes forever, whether you are moving/copying/renaming/e...

Re: Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit

Whoa :!: Something has gone awry, because using v8.90.0009 on Win 7 x64 to copy 42 files totalling ~26GB locks up XYplorer just like it used to pre-v8.90.0002  Has resiliency of XYcopy not reached that level yet or...? Have you updated XYcopy.exe? I have not yet added internal version check....

Was this one operation or 42 operations?

Re: XYcopy wishes

Actually, thinking about it in today's spring time sun I think verification would make a very cool additional feature for version 9.00. So, yes, I'll add it to XYcopy 1.0. @all: (hello jacky!) Thanks for all the other input to XYcopy -- very exciting stuff, ain't it?! More tomorrow... :P Thank you ...

Re: XYcopy wishes

From my POV it would be more practical to add this validation service to the Backup operation. Later, it will be added to XYcopy anyway (but under the name "XYcopy", and it will have an option to delete the sources when done (so it will be a fully configurable Move named "XYmove"...

Re: XYcopy wishes

Let me ask about point 1): MD5 or SHA1-hashing. The idea is to compare source and copy to verify it's identical? I would do no hashing then, far too slow. I would just compare the bytes. Or? The aim would be to verify that source and (physical, i.e. not Window's file cache) target are identical. I ...

Re: How do I hide the tab bar?

This is probably a stupid question, but I don't know how to hide the tab bar. I have the option 'maximum tabs' set to 1 to make sure there is only 1 tab. But, I really would like it to be hidden/gone. Is there an option I have missed? Menu bar: Window > Show Tabs. (There are several questions I pos...

Re: XYcopy questions

XYplorer's original copy/move/delete feature already has this: the Windows Shell dialog box is a separate window with thus its own toolbar button on the taskbar; its button turns green to indicate its operation's progress. Yes, it has it, because XY is using the shell API. However, since Don is tal...

Re: XYcopy questions

Now, what *would* be helpful, in line with what you were thinking, is if the file ops dialog box had it's own taskbar item which took advantage of Win 7's UI feature of having a status bar within the taskbar item itself. In which case, it should probably match up with the Overall Status Bar, rather...

Re: XYcopy - AutoQueue

Well, not an on-off switch, but a state toggle for future ops. You wouldn't want toggling the button to affect what is already in progress. You're right, of course. On (needed :)) reflection, to have the right-drag override the current state as indicated by the TB button seems (to me) to be a sensi...
