Re: Runtime error 226 at 00005D24
Here's my suggested wording to replace the second paragraph. To verify the above, do this from XY: Clear the error (Click OK). Go to Tools | Configuration | General | Menus, Mouse, Safety. In the Context Menus section, check the Hide shell extensions from shell context menu checkbox. Click OK. Then...

Re: Revert change made in 14.30.0409
Sorry to say: I love the "new way" 8) I agree. I think this is an improvement over Explorer's behavior that makes sense to me. And as mentioned in the other thread, this behavior matches how many other software products behave (though they aren't necessarily file managers). Sure, it doesn...

Re: Revert change made in 14.30.0409
The request for this change and discussion about was in this thread: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=12334
Unfortunately, it's kind of buried throughout since the original post in the thread was asking about a number of items.

Re: XY does not show the Carbonite right-click menu option
I think this is right and based on the information from Carbonite's KB article, I think that only Don will be able to answer whether or not it is something that can be supported.Cynthia Moore wrote:XY will find a way to make it work or provide a usable workaround or they will not.

Re: XY does not show the Carbonite right-click menu option
it seems Carbonite's shell extension(s) might be one of those specifically built with Windows Explorer in mind, and doesn't like many of the alternative file managers This might be an important indication of that: Our software was designed to work with Windows Explorer. While it is possible that Ca...

Re: Like a new feature? Say thanks here
MDBU on icon, text, and hex are great features!
Features that that never crossed my mind that I wanted, but now that I've used them for just a few minutes, I won't be able to live without.
Unbelievable - Thanks!

Re: why xp windows explorer is still more convenient (part 1
Notepad does not work that way. At least not in XP, Win7, or Server 2008. Arrgh! I must have tested in notepad2 (one of the notepad replacements I use) accidentally instead. I really meant to try it in the base notepad so it would have the 'weight of Windows' behind it. Oh well, let me change tack....

Re: why xp windows explorer is still more convenient (part 1
For whatever it's worth, I agree with PeterH's proposal for how to handle the left/right arrow when there's a selection in a file rename edit. It would be an improvement over the current 'standard' behavior, and it's a behavior I've wanted for quite some time (not necessarily in XY specifically - I ...

A thirty second delay makes me think of something waiting for a network timeout. I'm not sure where to look for that, though.

Golly, over 100 views and no one joining me! I'm feeling very lonely! Pete For my own opinion, I have an archive utility that I like, and I use that to deal with archives. Having XY present some basic archive functionality makes sense, but I'd rather that that Don focus on things other than ...

Re: XY with WINE on Linux... anybody tried it?
One of the nice things about Linux and Wine is that: they're free. Another nice thing is that Wine has extensive logging capabilities about what's going on. Several free programs - VitrualBox, a Linux distribution, and Wine - can be set up so you can run the Wine environment on your Win7 machine. If...

To solve this problem for copy operations, make sure that "Configuration/File Operations/Enable background processing" is checked so that XYcopy is used to perform copies in a separate process.

Re: XYplorer, the Fantastic Alternative File Browser
I replied to the ridiculous comments made by "Moon", but the lifehacker site seems to bury comments made to comments. Personally, I think the mention of a possible .NET version in the future should be left off the download page since I think .NET seems to have a bad reputation with users o...
