Keep Any Window on Top Using AHK - Very Simple
[This has been useful enough to me that I'm posting in this section. If an admin feels it's better off in "Other Software" feel free to move it. I like it because it's so simple and transparent - as well as consistently useful while using XY.] I find myself frequently wanting to keep a win...

Everything and XYplorer - My Everything Integration Settings
I was setting up my computer again and was looking at what I had set for EVERYTHING by voidtools to access XYplorer. I noticed the question and excellent answer from highend in this link: https://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20380&p=169206&hilit=%24exec+C%3A%5CProgram+Files+...

Re: Quick Question re: 'Computer' Taskbar Button
So: Links, Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Main User Folder are hard coded? (I assume "yes" from your previous answer, just making absolutely sure.) And yes, your suggestion of making a scripted button is probably the best solution (or just leave it alone!), though I'll need to think clearl...

Re: Error 5: 19.7+ Only, including Fresh - My Bad
Turned on syntax checking. Discovered I had a bad function declaration in a multi-script that was being called by the main script (so A called B called C, which had the error), though the function with the bad declaration wasn't itself being called. Evidently 19.6 was friendlier about it than 19.7 f...

[NoBug]Error 5: 19.7+ Only, including Fresh
Also doesn't want to acknowledge "step;" inside a script. In fact, it threw the below "step" error when that was the first command encountered. None of this happens after downgrading to 19.6. This is from a long, but well-used script and happens regardless of how I call it, thoug...

Quick Question re: 'Computer' Taskbar Button
How do you add things to the...second part of the menu button where it shows "User", "Downloads", etc. I'm talking about the button that physically looks like a computer, shows the name of my computer, and the bottom section can be used to quickly switch drives. I know this is li...

Re: Columns Being Viewed Shortcuts
I appreciate your suggestion. I'm using it and may build on it a bit. Wish there were a way of accessing the right-click menu for the horizontal scroll bars - they've got everything one could want - but too many precise clicks away to be very useful. Why didn't it occur to MS to make shortcuts for t...

sortbylist scripting command improvements?
I wish there were a way of identifying a folder by a wildcard pattern in the sort list - that wildcard sort list is a very powerful feature. And yes, there are ways around it, but nothing as direct, convenient, or useful. (Unless, of course, I'm missing something?) At the least a switch that makes i...

Make Manual Sorting a Little Stickier?
Currently, it resorts after a file delete or creation. Wish it didn't without changing other behaviors such as auto-refresh - which would leave the newly deleted file hanging around anyway.

Columns Being Viewed Shortcuts
I can't use the shift-mouse wheel shortcut for navigating left-right view of a detail pane. Currently the only reasonable way for me to navigate a thickly-columned details view is by grabbing the scroll bar on the bottom. Not ideal. Perhaps shift-left arrow and shift-right arrow could move by a (twe...

Re: [SOLVED] Custom File Icons isn't working in Windows 8
I'm on Win10. I don't know how broadly this applies to, well, any system but mine at this point :S, or even if this is particularly the right thread, or applicable, but I do think it's interesting that I can't get a unique preview for an icon (rather than a standard one for the icon editor I'm using...

Re: solving a problem: trying to isolate the proper files
After almost writing out some possible solutions, for your position and situation, I do have one strong suggestion: Image everything, then hire someone from either the IT or CS department at your school. Perhaps you could then get some useful work done on your newest laptop, enjoy the holidays, and ...

Re: Dark Mode and Toolbar Buttons
Try adjusting the Settings, Highlights and Dark Mode, Level of Darkness to a higher number; try changing it brighter in about five unit increments. On my system this ameliorated the problem I had with a couple of rather blackish custom icons I use to the point where they're just fine, and everything...

Thank you for the quick reply and your expertise. That sounds like a very reasonable solution to most of such a transfer and solves the tweak issue extremely well.

How do you transfer settings to a computer with a different license.
I'm sure this has been answered in some form before, or I should be able to figure it out, but how do I transfer all my settings, etc. to a PC with a different licence on it without disturbing that licence, yet applying all my settings? I, of course, think the way I'm set up is the one true way, and...
