Re: SimpleUpdater — Rev. 10.69 / 2016/06/19

I just tried this. But I put the script in "<scripts>\SimpleUpdater" so I could keep it and the docs together by themselves (my usual practice). The result was that on the first run, it deleted itself. I worked on that for some time before realizing that this name is also used for a tempor...

Re: "Portable File Manager for Windows"

I agree with the klan. Having "Portable" first makes this appear to be the primary attribute or distinction. But I wouldn't use simply "File Manager for Windows". It should at least be "Advanced File Manager for Windows". "Advanced" is heavily used but it stil...

Re: Allow extensions to be included in Search and Replace re

Thanks for this new feature, which I too had requested. I just hope some RegExp guru chimes in with the formula... :) Yes, it can be hard to make a regex affect only the base or only the extension. The worst case is when the base includes dots '.'. I have to script it and add separate sets of repair...

Re: Want "Base name only" in RegExp Rename

With the recent work on get() and gpc() fresh in mind, it might be appropriate to add base/extension distinction to RegExp Rename and SC "rename r". I would really like a checkbox/flag to shield the extension from such operations.

It did until the problem was fixed this past June. Maybe there's a clue in that:

Re: Want "Base name only" in RegExp Rename

This isn't easily done. E.g. what happens when you have folders in your selection that contain dots? Well, folders don't have extensions, so label the checkbox as: "Ignore extensions (on files only)". Use the right tool for the right purpose. Excluding extensions but renaming all . to <an...

Want "Base name only" in RegExp Rename

Please give us a "base name only" or "ignore extension" checkbox in the RegExp Rename (#122) dialog. Surely 99% of the use of this feature will be for base names, and avoiding the extension is not that simple - especially when I'm changing dots in the base name. As things are are...

Read FLAC properties even w ID3 headers

With all the recent effort on FLACs, maybe the time is right for this enhancement:

Re: Boolean Find crashes on 170K+ file list

Further thought on this: The diagnosis and troubleshooting were confused by the fact that when the XY search crashed, the folder ID varied each time and was never the one with the bad files. See the attached picture. If this had pointed to the culprit folder I could have isolated the problem immedia...

Just for info, it turns out that all FLACs in this album have the same problem, whatever it is.

OK, I've found the culprit file. You can get it from Dropbox via this link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fllk7detpy1qv56/01.%20Flute%20Sonata%20in%20E%20minor%2C%20Op.1%20No.1a%20HWV%20379%20-%20Larghetto%20%28adagio%29%20-%20andante%20-%20largo%20-%20allegro%20-%20presto.flac?dl=0 XY crashes when it e...
