I haven't said anything about things only happening in one directory... the problem with large lists of thumbnails happens in any directory with 20+ or so thumbnails.

Maybe you're referring to the problem in the other thread - which also happens all over the place, not just in a few directories.

The only thought I've had is has Chris got some background task running that is grabbing memory or disk. I use a download manager and I need to be careful if it is running and I'm using any Microsoft Office application since Office doesn't seem to be able to cope with anything else writing to disk ...

No, it's simply not the way the cache is designed.
In other words, it is too hard. Do you have any plans to rectify this? TrackerV3 is supposed to be about efficiency...

I've spent a lot of time testing this bug - hopefully it helps: The number of thumbnails is variable, and so is the number of bytes processed. But the big problem certainly happens to all thumbnails after a particular point (although not only then - once I found a single uncorrupted thumbs in a long...

Re: Thumbnail cache not smart

Thumbnails are recached when files are moved Yes. Surely that's unnecessary? Is it too hard to change the thumbnail references when files are moved? Thumbnails towards the end of large lists of thumbnails are sometimes not displayed when you first load them (you have to refresh the view as above to...

Thumbnails display "Bad image file" for some JPEG

OS: WindowsME I've found more than 12 images which have "Bad image file" written where the thumbnail should be. However, Windows Image Preview has no difficulty with these files. BMP equivalents of these images work fine. Here's a sample of some smaller images: http://graceful.port5.com/standsongrac...

Thumbnail cache not smart

Thumbnails are recached when files are moved. I'm guessing that old thumbnails aren't deleted either... There are two other related bugs: When you rename a file, the thumbnail disappears and you have to click on another folder and then back to the folder to see it. Thumbnails towards the end of larg...

Re: Corrupt Thumbnails

Any idea what could be so special about this directory? It seems to happen only in folders with large numbers of largish images. The above directory was fixed when I upgraded to the latest beta, but other directories show corruption: http://graceful.port5.com/standsongrace/temp/corrupt_thumbnails2....

Yes, yes, restores some images but corrupts new ones.
