Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

Thank you, Don,
and sorry to you and anybody affected if I may have been a little bit too emotional at some points in the conversation.
Regards, Stephan

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

*This* argument is dismissed. I know the search is fast, but I'm not so sure this argument should be dismissed at least not by the person that matters, Don. All I'm saying is why have XY search in for the file at all if Don can simply put in a flag upon reading the ini file that tells XY whether it...

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

I like XY's speed especially on start-up and don't want to mess it up. You add "_Initialize.xys" into the mix and we have XY searching for this file on everyone's start-up even those who don't have that script. If it was done, Don would have to put in a flag in one of the ini files to loo...

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

+1 for both, startup & exit I especially like Sammay's suggestion of auto-executing scripts named _Initialize.xys and _Terminate.xys And to NOT run those scripts when - Shift-click starting XY - starting an instance with ::fresh; or /fresh - commandline option /noinitscript I actually like his ...

Re: Better update system

But whenever I come across a system that delights, I think "I wish XY had this". The update engine should be an inherent part of the application. Actually it is true especially for XY with so many frequent updates. SimpleUpdater is not bad, but always having to hit that button just to see...

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

Thx Sammay, I knew there had to be someone who would understand and appreciate this.

Your idea is pretty much the same only implemented differently.

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

Yes, Don, please remove all command line parameters.
Not that it would make any sense but because it is so funny.

Re: Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

Yes very funny,
I am always on the side of the "simple" end-user and not of the extreme XY nerd.
This command attribute has its validity but is simply not practical in enough cases and especially for the "simple" end-user.
Besides, where is the exit-script?

Just a thought: Run Script on Startup

Right now when I type e.g. ::echo "test"; into Config -> General -> Startup & Exit -> Permanent startup path-field then on startup it says instead of the list view: Location currently not available but the script-line is not executed. Would it not be nice if it was executed? An user de...

Re: A few questions

there are two Icon view modes: small and large. Also the Tiles modes can resize icons. The original question was: "Tiles: Can you resize them?" The resizing of tiles (choosing between to custom sizes) only works for me if thumbnails are turned on in tiles view. Otherwise the tiles always ...

Re: A few questions

Hi and welcome to the club! 1) You can: Simply drag the right border of the Name column header. This resizes only the text area. What you, Chainyk, probably need/want is: Configuration (F9) -> Preview -> Thumbnails -> Show thumbnails in tiles view (recommend: ticked ON) If it is ON then you can use...

Re: Global Visual Filter - Your Usage

A number of times during the course of a day I'm only interested in seeing what's been modified or created today in multiple locations. So I've been finding it handy to simply cycle a GF on and off via a Catalog item. One for "today" and another for "past 7 days". I may add it t...

Re: A few questions

Hi Chainyk, Additionally you can look here: 1) http://www.xyplorer.com/release_14.60.php#Tiles 2) http://www.xyplorer.com/release_11.50.php#HighlightedGroups - This is almost as good as it gets. (It can be a little bit improved by user customized programming. But there is no "Groups View" ...

Re: Single click on icon to open all selected list items

Of course, alternatively, I would not mind having a SC function or an event handler that determines whether the icon of a file was clicked.
Just saying...
