And, conversely, changing the name will not attract people who don't like XY.
If it's called PowerExplorer it won't attract PowerDesk users because of the similar name.

Re: "Select Items" Suggestions.

But NOT in the Search Results tab, which might be where abc550 is trying to select the files.

Re: XYplorer not always showing as tab (XP)

"Re-start XY and it's almost instantaneous." This reads like a Windows/maybe hardware problem. "I/O activity stops" = XY is waiting for something to return but it does not. Something in your MiniTree is not always available. No. I/O stops means disk reading / writing has ended. XY has read the data...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

Four sub-directories, all with sub-directories. Deleting the files in the sub-sub-directories did not show any change in size of the directories. Deleting the files in the sub-directories, two showed as empty. The two that showed as empty were the first and last directories in the list, which were t...

Re: XYplorer not always showing as tab (XP)

But how many drives do you have? How many directories and sub-directories? Try with 20 or so drives in the tree, each with a couple of hundred directories, all with 10 or so levels of sub-directories, and tens of thousands of files. Then what it the tree like if you go to a directory several levels ...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

The USB test was a one off and something I would hardly ever do. I'll check later with a similar setup to see what happens.

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

More than three directories, there were about thirty and I deleted the contents of three of them.

Well, we're down to oddities with SCSI removable drives again by the looks of things and, since all my main drives are of that type, it looks like no solution.

Re: XYplorer not always showing as tab (XP)

That has been unchecked since the year dot!! The tree in XY is unusable with that option checked.

Re: XYplorer not always showing as tab (XP)

I'd already checked, when I was investigating, that it wasn't a problem with non-available drives, since all my drives are removable, or drives having to spin up to speed. Either increases the start up time considerably (but that's to be expected). The directories are spread over a number of drives,...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

Tried on a very small sample, three directories (with only 25 files each, no sub-directories and directory sizes about 3 Meg). Two out of three did not show as empty. Just out of interest I copied some files to a directory that was empty, but did not show as empty, and the size displayed increased i...

Re: XYplorer not always showing as tab (XP)

This may be totally un-related, but I had a similar problem some time ago which was caused by the Mini Tree. If the Mini Tree was large i.e. over 100 directories, XY would take an age to start, and never did display either in a window, task bar or system tray. Using Process Explorer I could see heav...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

If you believe it's related to sub-sub-directories then that's not the case. The three original directories I posted the sizes for had no sub-directories, as is indeed the case with almost all the directories I deal with. Only the example I tried this morning on the USB stick had heavily nested sub-...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

Update: Just tried on a USB stick (therefore no option to delete to recycle bin) using a file manager to delete the files. 733 files, total size 30,069,467 bytes spread across 24 sub-directories. Deletion of files and sub-directories took under 3 seconds, XY did not show the directory as empty, but ...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

Approximately 800 to 1200 files, total size 80 to 120 Meg, per sub-directory. There are a couple of very small text files, about a dozen HTML files, of size 10k or so each, and the remainder are images. Bypass the recycle bin using the programs command not the Windows setting on the recycle bin. A f...

Re: Incorrect directory size shown.

YES. That is why I didn't post the problem until I'd had time to confirm it. I did a check with four different file managers, in a quad split, all displaying the same directory with 31 sub-directories. Deleting the files using a fifth file manager resulted in XY not always showing the directories as...
