Re: crazy idea, real tree files

Bottom to top and right to left writing is reality, Klingon's are fantasy.

Re: Loupe Bar

Don, I think it's a waste of effort. I thought you would have better ideas. ...Good stuff for people with weak, tired, or lazy eyes... They will want everything, not just XY magnified. Hence they will either set their display up with larger fonts etc... or have a magnifier always active, either the ...

Re: Issue when exiting XYPlorer in some situations

1) Alt+F4 or the menu command, if I didn't want to save settings. Hardly ever used the rat!
2) Never checked, I don't think it existed when I could run XY.

Re: Issue when exiting XYPlorer in some situations

Yes. It used to happen almost always. Something in XY, not VB, since another VB6 program never had any problems. This was several years ago running XP, can't test now as Don knows.

Re: What are the best file managers for Windows?

You're saying you have a Windows machine that's not compatible with VB programs? That would be a first AFAIK. Not a problem with VB programs, XY is the problem. I told you a couple of years ago (e-mail 20 March 2014). I have a number of machines now (4 & 5 Ghz processors) that won't run XY. XY won'...

Re: What are the best file managers for Windows?

"...But then somebody tells you the construction plan used to build the machine is written in Latin! Is that a problem?..." Yes! Don, your comparison with the coffee machine actually proves the problems with VB. Latin does not contain the words to describe the construction of the machine; plastic, e...

Re: Bug or Feature: Search/Replace Rename for Xx --> XX won't work with odd number of X's

I don't totally agree with the last example.

I think that XXxxx-abx.txt should change to XXXxx-abx.txt, unless you are talking about a recursive replace.

I'm not on a system that will run XY at the moment so can't read the help file to see if the function is recursive by default.

Re: BUG with thumbnails again

Don, another setting is causing the problem.

Fresh XY - O.K.
My default XY (very old!) - rotated, UP on the left.

I'll try to fond out what is causing it.

Re: List colors dependent on bg color

Hmmm, interesting. So it's not anything like the colour I would have set in the configuration. It would therefore appear that, by picking the wrong combination, the grid colour could end up the same as the text, or have you thought of that one and prevented the clash? However, a suggestion: In the c...

Re: List colors dependent on bg color

So, if I have a blue background and a yellow grid, with your analogy of coloured glass the grid would appear as black (no blue light will pass through yellow glass). Is that the case? If so, I don't think that it's "smart" for a yellow grid to appear as black!. As you know, I can't run XY on my syst...

My two brothers were both English teachers, a Headmaster and head of department respectively. I didn't get a chance to use incorrect English!

Re: Website and Help Typos

It's grammatically incorrect because you haven't mentioned the items already, it has to refer back to items already mentioned . Oxford Dictionary of English. respectively: separately or individually and in the order already mentioned (used when enumerating two or more items or facts that refer back ...

Re: My whole system is lagging

Well, I don't know what is going on. This is what I'm doing: Start XY with the command "C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe" /ini=Temporary Internet Files. Paste ::logchange 5; into the Address bar and press Enter. Close I.E. from the task bar. The list of files in XY decreases and finally stops,...

Re: My whole system is lagging

What I was doing was: Starting XY with the ini file to set up the Branch View and the directory. Executing ::logchange 5; Running the download manager, which filled I.E.'s cache (XY displayed the cache contents). When I'd finished downloading I then cleared I.E.'s cache and executed ::text get("debu...

Re: My whole system is lagging

I've tried this numerous times now on several different machines. I've been staying with friends near San Jose (Silicon Valley Country) for the last month or so, hence the machines are ones I've never used before, and most have never had XY on them. Browse Flat on the Temporary Internet files repeat...
