Re: Thumbs won't update (but do in ::Fresh)

Thanks; I'm very fuzzy on the caching mechanisms. I've found the problem by comparing xyplorer.ini files saved from way back. Looks like months ago in Configuration | Thumbnails I changed to Quality "Fast". Setting Quality to anything except "Fast" seems to fix things. So it's a ...

Thumbs won't update (but do in ::Fresh)

XY v24.90.0117 in Windows 10 x64 Pro. I copied some .jpg pictures to a new folder, and thumbs were created ok. I used another tool to rotate and crop them, but the thumbs stayed the same ie. now wrong. Note that this is while "Cache thumbnails on disk" is disabled. In fact in Configuration...

Re: Locked file sequence causes Rename fail

"•) I attempt to rename it but XY reports that it's locked" DETAILS: The file is named "FILE.PDF" The long-left click for rename (or can use F2) makes XY highlight the base name of the file i.e. "FILE", as an editable field. Using the keyboard I change the name to FIL.P...

Locked file sequence causes Rename fail

For a long time, XY has occasionally gotten confused about file lock status and will act strangely after a collision. Here finally is something I can reproduce. •) In a ::fresh instance of v24.30.0121, Win 10 x64 •) From within an XY list I double-click on FILE.PDF •) This file opens in PDF-XChange....

[fixed] Cancelled Action Log 'Undo' gets wrong status

Thanks! It's fixed in v24.30.0110.

It's not in any recent Change Log. Maybe not important enough; just an FYI.

Re: Cancelled Action Log 'Undo' gets wrong status

Ironically, I had detailed the steps in my first version of this post, but thought maybe it appeared too complex to get looked at. • Open a ::fresh instance. • Create files A and B. • Delete A. • Rename B to A. • Forget that you made that rename. • Try to Action Log Undo the deletion of A. • When th...

Re: Thumbnails of some filetypes show in Windows Explorer but XYplorer

Way cool to see a Chinese (I assume) user and a German dev discuss detailed tech issues, both in fluent English. Or any third language. The mental bridges working are amazing to my mono mind.

Cancelled Action Log 'Undo' gets wrong status

Win 10 x64 w XY 24.30.0001 ::fresh

If an Edit | Action Log event is "Undone", but the undo fails eg for a name collision, the Action Log will show it as "Undone" anyway.

Thx

Re: MOUSE DOWN BLOW UP WILL NOT DISPLAY PDF FILES

Rather than explain my symptoms and what I've tried, can you just say if you ever solved this; and if so what generally is your setup now? It would probably be helpful to others who come across this thread if you explained the symptoms you're experiencing. I have multiple symptoms with PDFs, which ...

Re: MOUSE DOWN BLOW UP WILL NOT DISPLAY PDF FILES

Hi phred - I've got a very similar problem after changing my default PDF reader from Foxit to PDF-Xchange Viewer. Foxit had other issues and I'm reluctant to go back, and that may not be the actual problem since I changed other things too. Rather than explain my symptoms and what I've tried, can you...

Re: Can't Scroll PDF Preview

As noted, I had tried a ::fresh instance. The problem turned out to be a screen-print app which had global control over F11. Photoshop too takes global control of keys. Tracking such things down isn't easy btw. The best tool I found is HotkeyDetective from: https://github.com/ITachiLab/hotkey-detect...

Re: Can't Scroll PDF Preview

Phred - does F11 work for you to bring up the floating preview? Win 10 x64, XY v24.20.0510. In a ::fresh installation I customize the toolbar to show the Floating Preview icon. Clicking on that icon works - but pressing F11 does nothing. F9 and F10 do what they should for XY so it's odd that F11 doe...

Re: Windows Explorer Humor

Years ago, still using Windows Explorer, I began archiving some external drive file sets as RARs. I used Ctrl-A to select all; then RAR'd those; then pressed Delete. Only to find that Explorer had helpfully auto-included the RAR in the selection. So all my files and the archive disappeared simultane...

On switch to single-pane, remove (don't expand) [option]

I almost always have two panes open. And every time I switch to single-pane it's just to make XY smaller so I can access other things on my screen. Currently, F10 removes the inactive list pane but makes the active list pane fill the whole existing list area. To reduce XY's footprint (my actual goal...
