Duh, Fixed it. Of course, the Panasonic creates RW2 files not RAW files. Simply checked RW2 in the configuration settings! Works fine now.
Sometimes I just need to ask a dumb question out loud (i.e. on a forum) before the answer immediately becomes clear to me!

How to preview .RAW files?
Dumb question, maybe, but my knowledge about how to work xyplorer is pretty limited. Can someone point me in a good direction for figuring out how to display previews for .RAW image files? Right now, a preview shows the hex code for the file. Windows 10, using Adobe Suite for photo & video proce...

Re: Freezes when previewing raw image files
I just prevented .raw and .rw2 image files using the configuration setup, so the issue is solved - sort of. Just wondering why it came up in the first place.

Freezes when previewing raw image files
When I click on a raw image file (either .dng or .rw2) XYplorer freezes. I just get a constantly circling blue icon. This has just happened this morning - all has been fine for years until now. Unfortunately, I have a few thousand image files to handle today! In the past, the preview pane would sim...

Re: Creating a catalog for multiple hard drives
OK! Thanks for the response! I guess the best thing is to stick with Cathy or similar freeware catalog utility.

Re: Creating a catalog for multiple hard drives
I don't mean to sound like a dope, but how can I convert the resulting .CSV file into a tree structure similar to what's presented in a file browser? I know how to pop a .CSV into a spreadsheet, but that's not quite what I was looking for I want to be able to browse through offline hard drives' dire...

OK, just looking at Catalogs for the first time! I'm assuming this is the way to do it - will delve into it a little deeper...

Creating a catalog for multiple hard drives
I've got over a dozen old drives that I would like to create a catalog for. I had previously used a freeware utility called Cathy which worked great, but was wondering if I could do something similar with XYplorer. Basically, what I want to do is load each drive one by one into my hot swap bay and h...

Freezes when previewing PDF
I can view a PDF file in the preview window once, but if I navigate to a second PDF file, then XYplorer freezes. As long as I don't have the preview window up, the program doesn't freeze if I click on a PDF - it's only the 2nd instance of a PDF preview that freezes XYplorer.

Re: Help searching for files using EXIF criteria
I don't know too much about this, so pardon my ignorance if this is a dumb question! I do have a few different photo software tools, including DXO Photolab, which are able to read the EXIF data from jpg, tif, dng, and rw2 files. Does that imply that the appropriate codecs necessary are already insta...

Re: Help searching for files using EXIF criteria
When I work with photos, I start with raw files, either .dng or .rw2, and they get processed & converted to .tif, and eventually to .jpg. Both the .tif and .jpg versions inherit the EXIF info from the original raw format (whether rw2 or dng). But I guess the EXIF info is read differently along t...

Re: Help searching for files using EXIF criteria
OK! For some reason, I guess the EXIF data in the dng files can't be accessed? Running a search on a folder with both dng and jpg only turns up the jpg files. Would it help you at all if I sent you a dng file?
