First instance of this.
I was opening XYP in two screens
Opened a folder of images, and this occurred.
The images are all there, I checked opening ACDSee
If I click on the black square, the image appears.
I have tried "refresh Folder" no go.

Any tips please?

I just realised my jumbled collection of images, were sorted Alphabetically, capitals , then lower case. ie binary sort.
Changing to textual sort, is what I was after, but wondered, what, if any, advantages one would have, using binary sort?
My images are sorted Geographically, textual.

I have always had View : Hidden Items for years
In Win explorer and ACDSee

Now in my windows 10, I rarely have work hobby on this computer
so I had failed to do it.
So it was hiding in plain sight.

yep sounded large to me also.
I have I think somewhere around 600,000 images on the win 7

I wondered why, when I search for an image, it only takes seconds
they all must be cached
