Re: OpenHashTab context menu dialog not displaying
Yes, but at least two problems with that: -The dark color scheme (if you're using it) is ignored -The Hashes window tries to open but immediately closes (same result as if don't do what you mentioned and just get to it with "Show 64-bit context menu"). I take it that this doesn't happen fo...

Re: OpenHashTab context menu dialog not displaying
I don't know, though I haven't tried it recently, but I did notice one thing last year: you may already have another program that surprisingly does pretty much the same thing, and that's 7-zip. If you happen to have that installed, look on the 7-zip/CRC-SHA menu (no need to go to the XY 64-bit menu ...

Re: Explorer-style folder view saving?
I wasn't expecting to see a global setting within a specific entry.

Re: Video length isn't shown for mp4 but is for mkv
I have to amend the conclusion that I drew before. For whatever reason, this is reliably caused by a Windows build upgrade. The only remedy I know (since resetting it to defaults somehow doesn't work) is to first run the latest non-Update K-Lite installer (Update/Modify and Fast Update will both wor...

Re: Explorer-style folder view saving?
Wow, OK, I had been to that screen before but not recently when I had this in mind.
Is there a way to have that default to being checked for new views? It's the only thing there not checked by default.

Re: Explorer-style folder view saving?
No, but you may be doing that once or twice a week (or other related things, like changing columns). Each of those means two more clicks: one to remove, one to re-add. It's very easy to forget that, kind of like driving a stick shift when you're used to automatic. It's not just one click forevermore...

Re: Explorer-style folder view saving?
I had found some earlier, but they were mor like this, which is what had me thinking that the XY feature I mentioned might be as close as it gets. But given the sheer number of features, usually every time I think that I'm wrong.

Explorer-style folder view saving?
I'm almost convinced I'm just missing it, but File Explorer automatically remembers folder sorts. So, if you're in folder A and sort by name and then go to folder B and sort by extension, those sorts are simply remembered. And no other folders are affected. In XY, it seems that you have to define an...

Re: Video length isn't shown for mp4 but is for mkv
I took the current version of K-Lite and installed it on another Win11 (not the exact same version of Win11 or hardware) given that it still had the install option you showed (and it was unchecked). No XY problem with mp4, just like before K-Lite on that system. So I used the accompanying Codec Twea...

Re: Video length isn't shown for mp4 but is for mkv
Maybe the current version does, I'll check, because upgrades just uses whatever settings you originally had set.
But regardless, how would that relate to Length showing up for other formats? Wouldn't it not be there for all?

Good idea. Yes, it does (once I enabled that column anyway, which I don't normally have on in Explorer).

Re: Video length isn't shown for mp4 but is for mkv
Mediafinfo, the little helper app that K-Lite installs, knows all about it when invoked on a right-click, so that's another thing not showing a problem.

Re: Video length isn't shown for mp4 but is for mkv
If it was broken, wouldn't you expect mp4s to show a problem beyond this one narrow aspect?
I happen to already use K-Lite, so that's covered. I update it about once a week, so it's extremely current.
