Re: Freeze during copying on Vista 32-bit
Don, I'm sure you haven't forgotten about this but with over a month gone by since there has been a peep, I cannot continue to be silent any more on this issue. Nobody apart from you can wave a magic wand and make it go away. Your commitment to increasing number of features for common folk has made ...

Re: Passive selection via a script
Obviously though, that's only true if focus is on List. And it sounds to me, ivan, your focus must be on Tree, and thus hitting Delete means deleting the current folder. That's the normal/expected behavior of XY. Try adding "focus l;" in your script and that should do it. Thank you, addin...

Passive selection via a script
This could well be a feature and not a bug, but having thought about it I couldn't think of a reason why it would be a feature so here goes... To reproduce: 1. Navigate to any folder with some files in it and make sure that the focus is on the folder (name of the folder is in a blue rectangle). 2. A...

Re: XY installer
We are doing it all wrong, j_c_hallgren. We're just supposed to make widespread unsupported claims, evidence be darned! In most cases, a Zip file is the way to go, even if it is only providing bubble-wrap. It's extremely rare for it to be used to package anything but a single executable. Waffles ar...

Re: XY installer
Hi Ivan, I have a sincere request to you. Would you please step back and think for a minute that this is not such big a deal. You are making a huge deal out of the little fact that the exe sits inside a zip file. Come on, how long does it take for you to get an exe out of a zip file? And now since ...

Re: XY installer
Now had you originally said that "packaging of a single EXE within a Zip" is rare, then I might possibly agree with you, but you didn't...instead, you keep changing the discussion to another issue...seems like a typical response from either a politician or lawyer or both! I don't like to ...

Re: XY installer
As to which is better... EXE has a lot more cons than ZIP, so it seems exceedingly worth it even with the minimal discomfort of the unnecessary extraction. I wouldn't have minded so much if it was a self-extracting Zip, but unfortunately it is not. And surely if both EXE and Zip have cons then bund...

Re: XY installer
My point remains that a Zip file is a very common format for software for a number of reasons, including reducing bandwidth usage for the supplier...even that 2% for XY adds up over time...maybe in this case, it's not an issue, but for other vendors, it might well be. I have absolutely no issue wit...

Nope, he didn't mean questioning just oneself. He meant to never stop asking questions of others too, because answers enhance your learning and make you smarter. Ask what you do not know and learn.admin wrote:My old compatriot Albert meant questioning oneself, not others! He told me once. I hadn't asked.

Re: XY installer
And by saying this ...just wanted to point out that in those cases where there is a EXE, I'll always use that instead... you have, perhaps inadvertently, supported my point of view that EXE is preferable in the majority of situations. To borrow a quote from Albert Einstein, who happened to be a comp...

Excuse me, but this thread is me asking questions about why XY works the way it works. I don't see that as irrelevant at all.admin wrote:ivan, I've warned you before. Please confine your contributions to the sort of stuff everybody else here is contributing. One more irrelevant post and you're banned.

Re: XY installer
Many people have display of filetype supressed. And after receiving a mail with madonna.jpg they click it and don't understand, why a .exe is run. To disable this uncontrolled behavior it's often disallowed (disabled) in a company to download .exe-files. But if our DP-team want's to send me an exe ...

Re: XY installer
I was simply pointing out that license terms do not appear to support your contention about personal/corporate requirements I understand and, as you said, Don will be able to clarify this better, but this phrase in license definition throws me off: As an employer, you need a license for each employ...

Re: XY installer
To add to that, since XYplorer is a portable app many (including me) use it from USB too. Which means one is not confined to use it only at home, you can use it anywhere as long as its only you using it. If at any point if there is a second person involved then a second license is needed. While the...

Re: XY installer
There is no standard "personal use" vs "business use" clause AFAIK...If you have a personal license, you can use it wherever you may be (home/work/etc)...now only if the system is used by more than one employee and XY can be used by them, and XY is provided by the employer vs th...
