XP SP3
Does XYplorer not work on WinXP anymore? It runs but no window shows up and I have to kill it; it takes a long time before disappearing from the process list when I do, indicating it's stuck in a system routine or something like that.

Keeping a list of files
What's the right feature to use for this? I do a simple search (e.g. *.vcxproj in a top-level directory) and want to keep that in a semi-permanent manner. I sort the resulting files by name or by modification time, and drag them to another app or open directory in another tab. The normal Search Resu...

That did it.
What's the difference between "file icons" and the other icons it was discussing?

Re: Klingon - Mein Gott!
Could be worse. Back in the early ’90’s I worked on an embedded-PC control system that ran on DOS but was essentially programmed to the metal. I came up with a run-time nationalization system that could be switched on the fly, to match the operator's preference. However, we realized that neither of ...

problems with "This PC" view
The overview of all the drives (that have letters) has been giving me problems. First it displayed far too many "up" and I could not figure out how to change it. After cycling through different "views", it came back with only 4 columns which is much better, but still not fitting ...

pop-up preview?
In a details view, I used to get a "preview" image if I clicked on the icon. Now that doesn't happen anymore. Was that removed, or did I lose the setting somewhere?

My preferred solution is to Enable but not for Network.Stef123 wrote:And before doing any of those manual triggers highend suggested, you may want to disable "show folder size" under config > tree and list

Re: Show folder size on demand
So it does work that way always, it's just not showing the indicator in the Size column anymore?highend wrote:Do you mean by hitting Shift + F5?
Or:
Menu - Help - List All Commands
Type: size
286 | Calculate Folder Sizes (the assigned shortcut)
Yes, so it does.

Show folder size on demand
I remember a feature where "show folder size" could not actually do the heavy lifting until you asked. The size cell showed "press (something) to compute size" Now I can't find it. Am I thinking of someone else? (BTW, can't search for it either in the forum, as it says "igno...

Tiles, Previews still not understanding DNG
I have the official Adobe DNG codec 2.0. It works fine in a 32-bit Explorer (e.g. file dialog in a 32-bit application) but not in XYPlorer 14.60.0200.
Here is a screen shot showing the same directory in both apps:

File Sort Order
I was grumbling about the directory listing and "date string" order, which I've worked around in other folders before by using numbers or other formats, but that has caused its own problems in forgetting later whether the convention refers to a day or month number. Then it occurred to me t...

Re: Paper?
I don't know if Windows allows symbolic links to individual files. The default file system documented full symbolic links in Vista. Before that there were "shell links" that, like the paper list, worked within Explorer but programs opening such a file would see the undocumented shotcut da...

Icons? (and general advice)
I'm adding a button after the drive letters for a network server that is logically the same kind of thing but doesn't have a letter. I added User Button #1, and for its icon “state any existing file or folder, and its icon will be used for the button” so I entered \\Oort\ which is where I want it to...
