Sorry, this has got to be just one control I'm missing somewhere, but I couldn't find it searching. I just had to reinstall everything on my computer and now I'm not seeing folder sizes unless I shift+F5 them every time there is any change. I'm busy comparing, moving, and deleting directories right ...

And bingo! It's fixed! (I must have hit the shortcut by accident--I use Ctr+Alt+Shift+S a lot in another program.)
