Re: Find Files by Contents fails for uppercase search string
Restarting XY didn't solve the problem, but I clicked on "Reset Filters", entered the search string again and now the uppercase search string works with "Match case" unchecked. I looked through all of the tabs for "Find Files" and don't notice anything different from be...

[solved] Find Files by Contents fails for uppercase search string
I have a simple text file (named test.txt - inside the attached zip) that contains the string EVT1. If I use the Info Panel "Find Files' with contents "evt" (and "Match case" is not selected) the file is found. Perfect. However if instead I search for "EVT" ("...

Re: Looking for clarification on various rotate image commands
Thanks for the reply. Either that program respects exif data and acts accordingly or you really rotate the image and remove that orientation exif data entry Apparently there is enough enough software around that does not respect the EXIF data (or at least enough that I run into) that I'd like to hav...

Looking for clarification on various rotate image commands
I'm finding that when I rotate a JPG image using the right-click menu in the file list then posting the JPG online (to forums or whatever) that the uploaded image doesn't show as rotated - at least sometimes. I'm honestly not sure whether it fails to rotate only sometimes or all the time. I have fou...

Wish: option to treat files/dirs that begin with '.' as if they had hidden attribute set
I'd like to ask that XY have an option to treat files/dirs that begin with '.' as if they had hidden attribute set. I'm sure that most people know that by convention on *nix systems files and directories that begin with '.' are treated as hidden files. I have to deal with both Linux and Windows syst...

Re: Slow startup 20 seconds on fast laptop
Thank you, thank you thank you from me too! I started seeing 30 second startup times - a 30 second delay almost always points to a network problem. I verified that with the text get("loadtimes"); and turned off network browsing on startup. All is good now. I'm not sure exactly when it star...

Allow error dialog to be copied to clipboard
I'm having some hard drive problems right now, and while trying to work past that some of my copies fail due to I/O errors. I'm not sure if the error dialogs are being displayed by the shell or by XY, but in case they are XY's I'd like to request that the contents of the dialogs be able to be copied...

Thanks - that was it.
I never would have figured that out on my own.

Can't enable custom context menu
Right click doesn't bring up XY's custom context menu. "Custom items in shell context menu" is checked in the configuration. I have tried turning that setting off & on (with a restart of XY in between). I have updated to 18.70.0100 with no improvement. I've restarted Windows. I'm at a ...

Find Files: highlight the "type" field if it's not "All types"
I use the "Find Files" tab in the Info Panel quite often - it's one of the best things about XY. 99% of the time, the Type drop down selection on the "Name & Location" tab is set to "All types". But occasionally I'll set to a specific type to narrow down the search ...

Folder size caching not doing what I expect
I'm looking forward to using the new folder size caching feature, but it's not working as I expect. I hope that I'm stupidly doing something wrong. I have enabled "Cache Folder sizes" in Tools > Configuration... >General > Tree and List Then I go to directory A, press Shift-F5 and get fold...

Re: Like a new feature? Say thanks here
Drag and Drop. Now you can change the default drag and drop behavior (which is Move on same drive, Copy on different drive), and e.g. always Move or always Copy. Might save you a headache. One of those things that never occurred to me should have an option since it's just "the Windows way"...

Re: Wish: Add XY context menu items to the 64-bit context me
Thanks for the pointer - I never noticed that (I think I never use the "File" menu). I will try to train myself to use that avenue to the clipboard items.SammaySarkar wrote:FYI "to clipboard" is also available in Main menu>File (or maybe Edit)

Re: Like a new feature? Say thanks here
I must say, I would have never thought to ask for the 'obfuscate;' feature, but I can see it usefulness when posting screen shots. That said, aside from it's potential actual utility, I have found it to be quite fun playing around with it for a few minutes. Much more fun than I ever had with the 'ma...
