Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++

Already exists: Tools | Customize File Associations... Thanks for another 80! ;) Not so fast, young Padawan. I have the 'Customize File Associations' set up and use it ocasionally. What I'm actually missing is a smooth integration into the context menu. You probably have your hands full with x64. I...

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++

ok I just donated 40 buck because XYplorer is kinda important in my life. Thank you for power-search and Ctrl-P copies all paths for selected files. Comes with two requests: 1. buy top notch strings, they're too cheap to cheap out on 'em. Like putting crap tires on a Ferrari 2. somewhere along the x...

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++

Licensing: I have a lifetime license from back in 2002(?). Been a happy XY user since, although I use only a subset of its features. Sounds like the license is still valid for x64. Nice, but after 20+ years I already felt like I'm cheating you a bit. Just a thought: to reward the developer and incen...

Re: Why use 64bit?

A big reason for me is that 32-bit is legacy, has been for a long time. It's only a question of time when Windows restricts 32 bit apps.
If I was looking for a new Explorer replacement, on principle, "32bit" would be an instant NOPE.

On scripting...

It's not a bug, it's just unpleasant.... I always avoided XY scriping, but I gave up waiting for a useful compare command. Starting WinMerge manually is, gah, not smooth. The droid I'm looking for: https://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4420&p=195617&hilit=winmerge#p195617 (sa...

Re: 'show Favorite Folders' hangs (wakes disks?)

I've tested it, it's not about wake from sleep. Only hangs the first time the faves menu opens after booting; sleeping and waking up (either disks or whole windows) does not matter. no idea... (btw. I overlooked one favorite, /movies folder on an archive disk. Does that really matter as long as I do...

'show Favorite Folders' hangs (wakes disks?)

This is a minor nuisance, but my only persisting issue after 16? years of using XY daily. I love the "right-click the tree background to open Favorite Folders list". The issue is that this hangs for 10 seconds the first time I use it. Since this ONLY happens on my main PC, which has two ar...

Show path for found file / OpenWith with all known apps

A small but frequent (for me) issue: I search for a file, and get some results, next I want to know where file X is located. This usually interrupts my 'flow'. The only ways I know are: - right-click > Properties > look > Ok (repeat n times) - turn on the Path column > look > turn off Path column - ...

Associating File Types (Portable File Applications)

I say YAY to more PFA functionality. This is the one area where Windows still annoys me, and where I hope for improvements in XY. Actually, I don't use a USB stick; but I've maintained file associations again and again and again, with every new Windows install and every new box, and I stopped wastin...

Thanks, it works now, but now there's a new bug:

right-click on a folder in the file panel, and paste.
The file is not pasted into the selected folder, but into the current folder (the parent folder which is currently displayed in the file panel).

network: cut files do not disappear

Go to any networked folder. Cut a file -> the file gets 'greyed out' Right-click on any folder, and Paste -> The file is moved, but it is still visible in the file panel. You need to refresh to make the file disappear. Since it was XYp itself that moved the file, it should know that it is no longer ...

(just thinking loudly here...) Hmm. If you maintain two files in parallel (kb.dat and kb.ini), I wonder if your valuable time is well spent... the dat file is only used as a kind of 'cache' so you don't have to parse the ini every time, right? How long does it take a somewhat modern PC to parse a hu...

my thoughts... If I take the time to customize shortcuts, I'm going to be massively annoyed if they ever get overwritten (update, bug, whatever reason). Therefore, I like the idea of having a dedicated ini file that I can backup. Generally, I prefer INIs to GUIs. ComboBox Kung-Fu is convenient and f...

Don't open 'My Network Places' implicitly

The Problem: A lot of Windows PC I've seen have this problem: when you click on 'My Network Places' (the item with the world behind monitor symbol), then the application will freeze for 30 seconds or more, while it looks for workgroups. This is, of course, very annoying but there is... The Workaroun...
