"What other File Manager can offer simple flexibility and power to do this task" — Answer, only one XY7 (XYplorer with scripting). Hey, nice marketing, Graham! One of the things that lured me from Directory Opus to XYplorer just before version 6 hit the scene was that it allowed me to do ...

Script for deleting all files except by selected file type

Using the UDC (User-Defined Commands), I've created a simple script from commands and assigned an keyboard shortcut (ALT+6 in my case): ________________________________________________ #254;#252;#169;#642 (Select by file type / invert selection / delete files / empty recycle bin) ___________________...

Sorry for the repetition, JC, and thanks for the welcome. I searched 'scripts' and didn't find that topic. This can be merged with that one if you like or delete it. Script-sharing and debugging seems a natural evolution of the forum, now that XYplorer has it. And all XYplorer users should know that...

What about the other two, progress and sound. Should they also be disabled when turn off delete confirmation is active?
I'd prefer that, but I'll let others weigh in. This is not a big deal, but as you can see, it does reveal my extreme laziness. :-)

Or maybe I could add one more command (or a 'y' string?) to this simple CKS script:

#254;#252;#169;#642
(Select by file type; invert selection; delete files; empty recycle bin)

Way to remove the 'delete multiple items' dialog?

Is there a way to remove or bypass this dialog when deleting many items? http://www.anova.org/target/xyplorer/delete-multiple-dialog.png I have both the turn off delete confirmation option checked for both XYplorer and the Recycle Bin. And, this only displays when I use the #642 key (empty recycle b...

Should we have a new forum section for scripts?

Given how CKS and scripting really unleash the power of XYplorer, I'm wondering if we shouldn't create a new forum section on the Index page for sharing them among users? If not, we can put them in the Tips & Tricks, Questions & Answers section.

Don, your call.

As Don notes in the Help file, scripting ain't rocket science, and while it may not be attractive for beginners, showing them a simple script like "#254;#252;#169" could be a strong lure in the future: #254 select by file type #252 invert selection #169 Del ________________________________...

Holy crap, I've based the last two years of my life on pronouncing it zai-plorer. I must commit seppuku now.

Once again, the customizable keyboard shortcuts features are

fantastic! In the CKS dialog, the presence of the Options and All Free Shortcuts features save me a ton of time when committing them to memory. XYplorer has evolved to much more than I ever thought I would need out of a file manager and search tool.

Thanks Don!

A good idea, since this is the very next place I'm going; that is, to define a keyboard shortcut to most of the 6-10 UDCs I'll create.

Still can't get over this feature. Wow, wow, wow. I defy anyone to show me a better file manager!

User-Defined Commands -- WOW!

Once again, Don, you have blown my mind and shown that you're way, way ahead of my wildest imagination for such a feature. Thank you for taking the time to incubate this idea ; it truly is intuitive as you say. And for those using short catalogs, this feature allows you to bypass it if you choose, i...
