Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

I am not using shell extensions in context menu at all. I replaced all of that with XYplorer's "custom file associations" (via toolbar button). In XYplorer's customization, under General -> Menus, Mouse, Usability I checked off (activated) "hide shell extensions from shell context men...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Hmmm, good point. That "auto-refresh failure" is not constant. Maybe it's presence indicates that something has already cradhed in the background, and that a full crash is imminent. Now I will pay more attention to see if there is a relationship between these two, and I will let You know. ...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Ooops ! Just crashed.

Version 25.10.0102 beta,
the one with the bug trap.

Another premature conclusion.

There was NO ERROR MESSAGE !!

Still, there is a major improvement
as I stated above.

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Wow, two days now without a single crash ! It looks like I judged the new XYplorer version (25.10) prematurely without sufficient evaluation. 07 Nov 2023 15:58 admin wrote : "It's possible that the whole issue is fixed in the current version." It seems that You were right. Even if I do get...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

As You are so kind and interested I have now switched to the new version 25.10.0102 beta, I have also restored my old toolbar buttons using the folder creation method that causes crashes. I will publish here any error messages as they happen. Keep in mind that they are only random, so I can not &quo...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

OK, I downloaded your latest version 25.10.0102 beta.
I will switch once I have a bit of free time.

I am not familiar with that "bug trap" concept of Yours.
What am I supposed to expect :
1. simply no crashes ? or
2. some error messages that You want me to report ?

Thanks !

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

1) new("New Folder", "dir"); crashes as well? There is no rename involved... YES, crashes as well. 2) Crashes also with a fresh instance? YES, I have tried that with some previous versions, not with latest. 3) Since you are the only one left with those crashes, maybe it's time to...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

I did 4 variations of that - without any difference (crashes with each) : 1. press Ctrl+N, 2. Menu -> Edit -> New -> New Folder "New Folder", 3. ToolBar button running AutoHotKey script with ... Ctrl+N, 4. ToolBar button running XYplorer script with ... new("New Folder", "di...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Do you also get a crash when 1) you rename an existing folder ? NO - for sure 2) you turn off Auto-Refresh ? YES - see below My answer to the 2nd question is a mixed bag of reliability : for past XYplorer versions it is YES for sure i.e in the past I tried turning off Auto-Refresh for sure and it ma...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Thanks for Your prompt reply. The current version 25.10.0100 (and 25.10.0000) i.e. the one with "rapid file processing" (this gave me hope) did not make a difference to the crashes. And these crashes were NOT GIVING ME ANY MESSAGES with method 1 Menu -> Edit -> New -> New Folder "New ...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

This might be useful !! At last I have a clue that might be valuable for you clever software developers/administrators. I mean, it might help you narrow down where the problem lies. I made a change in how I use XYploer, and the crashing problem is gone ! This is what I did : so far (while things wer...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

I understand.

I mentioned it on the off chance
that someone in Your team at XYplorer
might be using a Lenovo
and would have a chance to check
without going out of their way.

Cheers !

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

Oh, I did not know You would be interested. Well, then, here are all the active/running Lenovo "exe" files : utility.exe (in program folder LenovoUtility) Lenovo.Modern.ImController.exe LenovoUtilityService.exe UDClientService.exe Lenovo is a superb brand (top quality), so I am reluctant t...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

OK, here we are with testing results on my system (Windows 10, Lenovo laptop, shell extensions disabled in portable XYplorer Configuration) : After almost 1 full day of testing the beta version 24.90.0141 I had one crash with folder creation, and one crash on regaining focus. It might feel like a sl...

Re: xyplorer crashes unexpectedly

I suppose the new stable version 25.00
includes Your fixes that we are testing here.

If You can confirm that
then I would continue this testing with version 25.00.
