Re: Windows Explorer Libraries request [2020]

Just to compare: think of a file inside a folder. But the file isn't in the folder, only the name and a pointer are there. The file is on disk, without respect to any folder. Yes, it's just (another) hard link, I think. When you move a single file in there, then indeed it's "in this folder", just l...

Re: Windows Explorer Libraries request [2020]

But Libraries are by type, right? One for pics, one for music, and so on. Preface: I'm not not even an educated layman in this area. In my understanding their just normal folders (1) with additional inbuild logic on top(2). (1) Normal folders: In a quick test I could easily move an xml-file into th...

Re: Restore new tab from pane's "+"-button as cloning

Maybe later you can check whether this only happens on New Tab (and not on any other way to go to My PC). Needs no further check - it's the same for both. I think it's related to my setup: from the previous tests above I had the remaining "This PC" tab inactivated. Just by clicking on it I've seen ...

Re: Restore new tab from pane's "+"-button as cloning

Fast on startup, slow later??? :eh: Seems not really reproducible. Now I had some cycles where restart or new tab were nearly instant. Then again, when I was activating a different (any other) tab before hitting "+" it were delayed again. Windows caching (prefetch/super fetch)? Sorry, not more time...

Opening "This PC" is non-instant??? You mean slow?
Yep. I have rather a bunch of drives/partitions which apparently needs some time to gather the information. But it's not slower than clicking on the "This PC" tree node in any other existing tab, so no (new) problem here XYplorer could solve.

Restore new tab from pane's "+"-button as cloning

v21.10.0007 - 2020-09-21 20:15 ..... * Menu View | Tab | New Tab: Now it opens the new tab at "This PC" unless a new tab path is defined at "Configuration | Tabs and Panes | Tabs | New tab path". This now also happens when I add a new tab using the pane's "+"-button (which is also very non-instant,...

Can't you write it down on some Post-it® and stick it to your screen?

This is what I'm doing all the time so far.

Actually, it's often a messy .txt-list of hex values where the context get's lost over time. It's not a daily pain, for sure.
