Re: Why use 64bit?
A native 64-bit version is great for Windows PE as well, for example an "out of the box" ADK 64bit PE. No need for elaborate WOW64 implementations (which would otherwise be necessary to run 32bit apps in 64bit PE).

Re: XYplorer 64-bit Does Not Stay Maximised
I can confirm this. Must be related to the other problem I mentioned about the main screen shifting up after using the F9 config menu. When this happens I also notice the font in the address bar changes, so maybe that's related as well. The crashes I mentioned in another topic however did *not* come...

Re: Image to PDF converter (offline tool)
What do you mean "because of XY I never use it"? No time left to try it out? [EDIT: Aah, now I see: you mean "I never use FastStone for image viewing"...] Hope it can be useful for you. Just wanted to add that to my surprise the old 4.2 version is still available (virustotal even...

Re: Image to PDF converter (offline tool)
FastStone Image Viewer. Free for personal use. I'm still using version 4.2, has been working without a hitch for (let's check...) 15 years. Portable, 2mb in size. Select one or more images (in my case: mostly A4 scans), hit alt-M (or menu "Create", "Multi Page File Builder"). Exc...

Re: x64 - After using f9 settings main window shifts up & XY sometimes crashes (older Win only?)
So it seems Windows version related to me. In that case it might be more of a TwinBASIC issue then a XYPlorer thing?

Re: x64 - Testing lots of settings - Main window shifts up & XY sometimes crashes
I am testing on different computers and different OS versions. For now, the crash and pixel jump doesn't seem to occur on the latest Windows 11 24h2 version. Hmm... I have a test laptop with 3 Windows versions: W10 LTSB2016 14393, W10 LTSC2021 19041 and W11 LTSC2024 26100 Too much to fit into the &q...

Re: x64 - Testing lots of settings - Main window shifts up & XY sometimes crashes
Nope, not by shortcut. In the meantime, I also had the crash on a clean config (just the exe, no ini files at all). I will test further. Maybe I will also try a bit of Procmon etc. [EDIT] To me, it almost looks like something "redraw" related or something. I mean: why the "pixel jump&...

x64 - After using f9 settings main window shifts up & XY sometimes crashes (older Win only?)
Just started testing x64 yesterday, basically spent all this time in the F9 settings menu. (a) This is reproducable for me: (1) Start XY64 (2) Hit F9 (Settings) (3) Click OK (4) Main window shift 4 pixels to the left and 27 pixels up (b) Not reproducable (yet): (1) Start XY64 (2) Hit F9 (3) Change s...

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
The short answer is: just fire up any PE (I like bare bones ADK versions, driven by Autohotkey scripts, by I can also recommend LiveSystemPro or PhoenixPE) and run XY64 from any folder.
A longer answer would probably need a new topic, maybe I will start that tomorrow.

Re: +++ BREAKING NEWS: XYplorer goes twinBASIC +++
This is amazing, must admit I'm only reading about this great news now (holidays for me). I had kind of accepted the fact that there would never be a 64 bit version, and in Windows PE, I would always have to "build in" WOW64 to get XYPlorer working (refuse to use anything else, even in PE)...

Re: 64 bit XYPlorer
When I'm running pure 64bit Windows PE, the tools I miss most are XYplorer and The Semware Editor. Of course, WOW64 is now possible, even in Windows 10 PE, but a 64bit version surely would be nice. Movie reference: Me: "Surely, there's something you can do? Now let's say we had a 64bit version ...

Well, we can only hope... Looks like Don has been studying C++ since 27 september, so I guess we can expect that 64bit version any time nowSammaySarkar wrote:C++ should really be the best, in terms of speed.
